It’s acceptable to take a knee during the national anthem in today’s NFL. But showing your support for Israel at a Philadelphia Eagles game is no bueno.
Democratic power broker George Norcross found that out the hard way after he unveiled a flag celebrating America’s longstanding alliance with Israel from his box at Lincoln Financial Field.
Security wasn’t having any of it, manhandling the 67-year-old like he was an aggressive drunk before crumpling up the flag he had draped over his box.
Mediaite reports on the unfortunate situation involving the old-school Democrat:
Footage uploaded to social media on Sunday shows that a situation unfolded while Norcross, a Democratic South Jersey power broker, was attending the game between the Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys. Norcross was seen inside of a private box at Lincoln Financial Field, where a banner combining the American and Israeli flags was draped over the front.
The video shows Norcross being confronted by security officers who seemed to tell him he couldn’t show the flag. Norcross was shown being led away by, and NJ 101.5 reported that he was “ejected” from the game after one of the officials removed the banner.
Newsweek notes that Lincoln Financial Field’s policy guidelines state that “signs, banners or similar items that are obscene or indecent, unrelated to the event, potentially offensive to other patrons, that may block the views of other fans or that are otherwise considered dangerous or inappropriate by the Eagles are prohibited,” and that the field “reserves the right to confiscate signs that are in violation of the stadium policy.” The removal comes about a month after war broke out between Israel and Hamas after the terror group’s devastating first strike against the country.
Throughout his behind the scenes political career, Norcross built one of the most effective political machines in the country, singularly focused on electing Democrats. The party he led was once focused on combating antisemitism. That seems to be less the case today.
