ANALYSIS – While it is sadly common for the regular public to confuse Memorial Day for Veterans Day, or have no idea what the holiday is for, other than sales and barbecues, it shouldn’t be a mistake that elected U.S. representatives should make. And if the members of Congress are too ignorant and obtuse to understand the meaning of the American holiday, someone on their staff should know it.
However, unsurprisingly, that isn’t the case with two of our far-left, America-hating members of the “Squad,” Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Cori Bush of Missouri.
The two members of Congress scrambled to delete very similar and wrong posts on X about Memorial Day highlighting to everyone how little the lawmakers know about our military and the longtime U.S. holiday.
“On #MemorialDay, we honor the heroic men and women who served our country,” Omar posted before quickly wiping the statement from her X account.
“We owe them more than our gratitude – they have more than earned access to quality mental health services, job opportunities, housing assistance, and the benefits they were promised.”
Sadly, Omar’s advocacy for reforms for veterans’ benefits doesn’t make much sense as those who are remembered on Memorial Day are no longer alive.
And, as if reading from the same vacuous neo-Marxist script, the same mistake was made by her fellow “Squad” member Bush.
“This #MemorialDay & every day, we honor our veterans in St. Louis,” Bush wrote on X before quickly deleting the post. (RELATED: Biden’s Gaza Pier Operation Claims First US Casualties)
Social media users were quick to note that the congresswomen’s posts showed their ignorance by mixing up the meaning of Memorial Day with Veterans Day, the federal holiday observed annually on November 11, which honors living military veterans.
So, yes, instead of honoring our heroes who have fallen in battle, these two tone-deaf idiots used the solemn holiday to advocate for pacifism, socialized healthcare and housing reform, mentioning veterans as an aside.
While some of those sentiments would be appropriate on Veterans Day, or any other day, they clearly miss the mark on Memorial Day.
Later in the day, Omar corrected her embarrassing error and posted a different message about the holiday that focused on those who “selflessly sacrificed their lives in service to our country.”
Bush also reposted to correctly recognize the holiday, saying, “This #MemorialDay, we honor those who served and lost their lives for our country, and we hold in our hearts the loved ones they’ve left behind.”
But maybe this shouldn’t surprise anyone, as these two leftists spend more time screaming about so-called Israeli “genocide” against Palestinians in Gaza than about U.S. veterans and fallen warriors. (RELATED: Ilhan Omar’s Daughter Whines About Becoming ‘Houseless’ To Teen Vogue)
Unfortunately, this faux patriotism is the norm for the likes of Bush and Omar. As John Hasson of Townhall posted: “Ilhan Omar misunderstanding Memorial Day is incredibly on brand.”

GOP-Led House Approves Iran War Powers Resolution In Rebuke To Trump
The House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a war powers resolution aimed at ending unauthorized U.S. military involvement in Iran, marking the most significant congressional challenge yet to President Donald Trump’s handling of the conflict.
The measure, sponsored by Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) invokes the 1973 War Powers Resolution and would require the administration to obtain explicit authorization from Congress before continuing hostilities against Iran, except in cases involving an imminent threat to the United States. The vote followed months of growing bipartisan concern over a conflict that began in.
