ANALYSIS – Well, the verdict is in for the sham criminal trial of former President Donald Trump. The likely entirely Democrat jury, enabled by a Democrat judge, found Trump guilty of a whopping 34 felony counts related to an idiotic charge of recordkeeping fraud.
He is now a convicted felon, even as his convictions debase that term so much as to now make it meaningless. And the judge could sentence Trump to almost anything, including picking up trash as a way to humiliate him.
Though any sentence would be delayed while Trump appeals the verdict.
Still, as we debate whether, or how the verdict will impact the elections, some are also wondering if Trump can be sent to jail. The answer is yes, the convictions each carry a potential four-year maximum sentence, but not likely.
The entire case was a farce, and no one has ever been charged with a similar crime. These are petty and nonviolent crimes. And with Trump’s clean record, and his age, probation and community service are the likely results.
Community service could include cleaning streets, removing graffiti, working in a food pantry or a community garden.
Trump, 77, is slated to be sentenced on July 11 by Manhattan Acting Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, the same rabid Democrat who rigged the trial against Trump. Meanwhile, far-left, Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg on Thursday declined to say what punishment his office would seek.
However, criminal defense attorney Jeffrey Lichtman told the New York Post:
Trump can get a prison sentence, probation, or even a jail [not prison] sentence if he receives a year or less. He could also receive community service as part of a probationary sentence, including picking up trash on the side of the road.
He added:“I don’t expect a prison [or] jail sentence, but anything is possible from this judge and this district attorney.”
As the New York Post reported:
The judge can impose whatever conditions he sees fit, including setting the parameters for probation or conditional release.
Trump faces up to five years of probation, which would entail a probation officer checking in with him to make sure he’s meeting whatever conditions the judge lays out.
Those could include not committing another crime, paying a fine by a certain date or notifying a probation office of his travel plans, New York Law School Professor Anna Cominsky explained.
Or, the ex-president could face three years conditional discharge, which is similar to probation — in that Trump must follow the judge’s rules, but wouldn’t be monitored by an officer, Cominsky said.
If the judge chooses community service, the Republican billionaire could either fulfill that penalty through a court-approved program or through private community service at a non-profit of his choosing.
And while Trump’s enemies would see trash picking as a humiliation for the ex-president. Trump would just as likely turn it into another opportunity to burnish his populist bona fides and be a ‘man of the people.’
He could even honestly claim that, unlike the Democrats at City Hall, he actually helped clean up New York City.

The House of Representatives voted Wednesday to approve a war powers resolution to limit unauthorized American military involvement in Iran.
Sponsored by Rep. Gregory Meeks of New York, the measure would require the White House.
