The House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a war powers resolution aimed at ending unauthorized U.S. military involvement in Iran, marking the most significant congressional challenge yet to President Donald Trump’s handling of the conflict.

The measure, sponsored by Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) invokes the 1973 War Powers Resolution and would require the administration to obtain explicit authorization from Congress before continuing hostilities against Iran, except in cases involving an imminent threat to the United States. The vote followed months of growing bipartisan concern over a conflict that began in.

Internationally renowned singer and actor Justin Timberlake finds himself in a legal tussle after being pulled over late Monday under suspicion of driving while intoxicated in the Hamptons. Timberlake, known for his meteoric rise to fame with NSYNC followed by a wildly successful solo music career and acting roles in films such as “The Social Network” and “Friends with Benefits,” was taken into custody by the Sag Harbor Village Police Department shortly after midnight on Tuesday, June 18. The 43-year-old spent most of the night in jail, with his glassy-eyed mugshot released following his arraignment at 9:30 a.m.

Authorities charged the “Cry Me a River,” “Rock Your Body” and “SexyBack” singer with driving while intoxicated and two other traffic violations, including driving through a stop sign and failure to stay in his lane. According to the arrest report, he refused to submit to an alcohol test despite only claiming to have had one martini or initial a statement acknowledging that his refusal could be used against him at trial.

The Arrest: What Happened?

Timberlake’s latest troubles began after he left a dinner with friends. Police observed his gray 2025 BMW weaving along the road and running through a stop sign, prompting the stop. The officer conducted a field sobriety test which the singer “performed poorly.”

As he was being detained, Timberlake allegedly muttered, “This is going to ruin the tour.” The cop, who was so young that he didn’t know Timberlake and had no memory of him during the height of his career in the late 2000s, replied, “What tour?” The 10-time Grammy winner responded: “The world tour.”

Legal Headaches Continue: The Latest Updates

Timberlake is set to appear in court virtually on July 26, coinciding with the start of his two-night concert in Krakow, Poland, part of his “Forget Tomorrow World Tour.” He has already secured the services of Edward Burke Jr., a local powerhouse attorney, whose firm is conveniently next to the site of the arrest. Burke’s office told the New York Post that he “looks forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations. He will have a lot to say at the appropriate time. He is currently awaiting full discovery from the DA’s office.”

Can His Career Bounce Back?

The “Forget Tomorrow World Tour” is Timberlake’s first tour in five years, following the release of his latest album, “Everything I Thought It Was.” Despite the album debuting with the lowest first-week sales of his career and receiving mixed reviews, the tour has been a massive success. It is Timberlake’s fastest-selling to date, grossing over $140 million in initial ticket sales and selling over one million tickets, leading to the addition of nine more shows.

Britney Spears’ Allegations: The Shocking Details

Regardless, Timberlake’s image has taken a serious hit recently, mostly because of revelations in Britney Spears’ memoir, “The Woman in Me.” Spears’ memoir, released in October 2023, brought to light several concerning aspects of their tumultuous relationship, most notably allegations that Timberlake pressured Spears into having an abortion and cheated on her.

Timberlake’s marriage to actress Jessica Biel has also faced challenges. In 2019, he was photographed holding hands with his “Palmer” co-star Alisha Wainwright, leading to widespread speculation and Timberlake apologizing for his “strong lapse in judgment.”

Where Things Stand Now

Timberlake continues to receive support from influential figures in the entertainment industry, such as Jimmy Fallon. They have worked together to rehabilitate Timberlake’s public image with mixed success. Fallon recently had Timberlake on “The Tonight Show” to promote his latest album and tour. The duo also revived their popular “Barry Gibb Talk Show” sketch on “Saturday Night Live” in January.

From a traditional PR standpoint, handling Timberlake’s DWI arrest involves several strategic steps to mitigate damage and rebuild his image, starting with a stereotypical acknowledgment of wrongdoing and apology.

But, as of this writing, that hasn’t happened yet.
