Never Trump Arizona Republicans Urge Moderates To Vote Harris Walz

At a Harris Walz rally in Arizona, speakers made their appeal to “moderate,” “McCain” Republicans, imploring them to vote for the Democratic nominee in November.

“In the spirit of the great Sen. John McCain, please join me in putting country over party and stopping Donald Trump and protecting the rule of law, protecting our constitution and protecting the democracy of our great country.”

This is an especially bizarre framing of the Harris Walz ticket, as they have both rejected the “rule of law” with regards to illegal immigration, have been openly hostile to both the First and Second Amendments, and have defied “democracy” by assuming the nomination with zero input from voters. According to a 2022 Rasmussen survey, over half of all likely Democrat voters believed the Constitution was rooted in racism and sexism.

Mesa Republican Mayor John Giles echoed the statements at the rally, lamenting that as a lifelong Republican, he no longer recognizes his party. He went on to say the GOP had been taken over by extremists, forcing out centrists and moderates. He told voters, “You don't owe a damn thing to that political party,” calling it “displaced loyalty” to support Donald Trump.

While there is validity to claims of extremism, as both parties have moved further from the middle, this is a perplexing representation of the indisputably progressive Harris Walz ticket. Prior to her 2020 presidential run, Kamala Harris was labeled as the furthest left senator — even further left than self-professed socialist Bernie Sanders. Ahead of 2020's Election Day, she published a video on “equity vs equality” — widely received as an endorsement and admission of a Marxist worldview.

Despite the media's attempts to portray Walz as moderate, he was easily one of the furthest left governors in the country, giving taxpayer funded college and healthcare to illegal immigrants, passing some of the strictest gun control in the country, creating a hot line encouraging Minnesotans to report their neighbors for social distancing violations during COVID, allowing Black Lives Matter riots to ravage his cities, declaring that free speech doesn't apply to “misinformation” or “hate speech,” and making Minnesota a transgender sanctuary state, offering to provide taxpayer funded medication and surgeries to children without parental consent.

In 2019, John McCain's widow said in a podcast interview that Trump's Republican Party was not the party that she and her late husband belonged to.

In December of 2016, McCain gave the Steele dossier documents produced by the Washington opposition research firm Fusion GPS to then FBI Director James Comey, whose agency went on to use it as the foundation for its “Russian collusion” probe in the 2016 election — leading to a months long investigation and series of hearings wasting millions in FBI resources and taxpayer dollars.

McCain also famously cost the Trump administration a skinny repeal of Obamacare, flying from Arizona to Washington to cast the deciding vote, despite years of publicly opposing the policy.

As usual, Arizona will play a key role in November. In the last presidential election and in the following gubernatorial election the state's election protocols came under intense scrutiny.
