SURPRISE, AZ – A late-night argument at a local Taco Bell drive-thru took a fatal turn when a man was shot and killed after reportedly drawing a weapon first. The incident, which occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, began with a verbal altercation between 24-year-old Adrian Garduno and individuals in another vehicle.

AZ Family reported that Garduno, while in his vehicle in the drive-thru line, became involved in an escalating argument. Garduno then stepped out of his car, brandishing a firearm and aiming it at the occupants of the other vehicle. In response, one of the individuals in the targeted vehicle retaliated by shooting Garduno multiple times.

Officers were already on their way to the scene when the shooting occurred. Upon arrival, they found Garduno deceased. The shooter remained at the location and was cooperative with officials. After an initial investigation, he was released without charges pending further review.

The case is now in the hands of the Attorney's Office, which will conduct a full examination of the events leading to Garduno's death.

It's worth noting the challenges faced when defending oneself from within a vehicle, such as the restricted movement and the difficulty in effectively drawing a firearm. Yet, it appears the shooter managed to quickly and successfully navigate these obstacles to protect himself.
