Mike Pence's older brother has become the second Indiana Republican in as many days to announce their retirement from Congress.
Like Rep. Larry Bucshon (R-Ind.), Hoosier State Republican Greg Pence will retire at the end of his current term, next January.
Great America News Desk's Madeleine Jackson has more on Pence's announcement:
“As a former Marine Officer, I approached the job with purpose,” he said in a statement posted to X, formerly known as Twitter. “After three terms, I've made the decision to not file for reelection.”
Pence's announcement is the latest in a series of recent House retirements.
The southeast Indiana district is heavily Republican and will likely stay in GOP hands.
Former Vice President Pence withdrew from the 2024 Republican Party presidential primaries last October following lackluster fundraising efforts and poor polling results.
