America's reliance on cobalt was cemented this year after President Biden signed an executive order that established his administration's goal to have electric and other zero-emissions vehicles make up half of new cars and trucks sold in the U.S. by 2030.
But what does this have to do with Hunter Biden?
As the Daily Signal notes: “Cobalt is one of the most important components of electric car batteries, solar panels, and other conduits for renewable energy.” These are critical for Joe Biden's new clean energy mandate.
But in 2016, when his father was vice president under Barack Obama, Hunter Biden was involved in selling one of the world's richest cobalt mines, which was American-run in Africa.
According to the reporting by the New York Times, Hunter helped facilitate the sale of the U.S.-operated cobalt mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo to a Chinese company.
The Daily Signal explains:
China understands what's at stake, and controlling cobalt mines is a severe blow to Americans' ability to invest in renewable energy technology. In fact, it jeopardizes our ability to prioritize domestic innovation and adopt green energy at a faster rate.
At the time of the sale, the Obama administration, with Joe Biden as vice president, was aware of cobalt's importance to the global economy, but did nothing to intervene in Hunter Biden's Beijing-backed transaction.
Bottom line – Joe Biden's latest clean energy initiative makes Americans dependent on China for cobalt – in large part due to his son Hunter's actions while Joe was vice president.
But this 2016 sale isn't the only danger posed by Hunter. As the Daily Signal writes, Hunter:
…has made a fortune capitalizing on his life as Joe Biden's son to peddle influence and line his pockets. For months, Republicans on the House Oversight and Reform Committee have been investigating and demanding answers into Hunter Biden's intent to sell his amateur artwork, possibly to influencers in adversaries such as China and Russia, for exorbitant prices.
The White House's decision to abide by purchasers' anonymity deserves scrutiny and remains a national security concern.
When the GOP retakes the House, and possibly the Senate as well, later this year, it is imperative that the Congressional investigations into the Biden family corruption still endangering U.S. national security ramps up as well.
