Liberty Rising Brief: Biden’s Best Moments

-

“Those who expect to reap the blessings of , must, like men, undergo the fatigues of supporting it.” ― Thomas Paine

THE DAY AHEAD:

Let's start today with Biden's most comical and hypocritical remark from his State of the Union (SOTU) Address last night.

President Biden boldly suggested that freedom trumps tyranny, despite the apathy and complacency of his administration during unconstitutional Covid-19 mandates and international assaults on civil liberties.

Meanwhile, one Democrat accurately assesses the situation, from time to time.

As protests in Canada came to a halt, the convoy has traveled to America. Organizers across the country are planning to meet in Washington D.C. on March 5th. However, some are skeptical of what the turnout will look like, especially high-security concerns at the capital.

In other swamp news, lawmakers made political fashion statements at the State of the Union last night. Squad member Cori Bush wore a t-shirt that read “18,000” in recognition of the number of people with clemency petitions in the backlog.

On the other side of the aisle, Republican lawmaker Lauren Boebert styled a jacket proclaiming, “Drill, Baby, Drill.”
A final note from Biden's speech. The president announced that Americans who test positive for Covid-19 may receive antiviral pills for free.

President Biden said,

We're launching the ‘Test to Treat' initiative so people can get tested at a pharmacy, and if they're positive, receive antiviral pills on the spot at no cost.

Furthermore, households can place another order of free Covid-19 tests starting next week. The first set of tests was limited to four per household and shipped within two weeks.

Now, tests are in high demand amid a new strain of the virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimated that BA.2, otherwise known as “stealth” Omicron, accounted for 8% of cases last week. According to public health officials, the strain is more transmissible and has the potential to reinfect people after they had Omicron.

The also announced plans to deploy a new vaccine within 100 days of a new variant emerging. With boosters every few months, the sentiment suggests the vaccines will keep rolling despite controversy.

One last thing, as we gear up for the 2022 elections, we're looking ahead to Texas' next governor. Current Governor Greg Abbott and Beto O'Rourke won their gubernatorial primaries and will face each other in the November general election.

Important issues for the state, and others like it, include , gun rights, and Covid-19 policies.

To power you through the middle of the week, here are our favorite moments from the SOTU:

That's it for today. Thank you for reading the !
