A new poll finds one of the most outspoken socialist Democrats in Congress may be headed for a blowout defeat, in her own party's primary, just days after it was revealed she may be under federal criminal investigation
A Remington/MOScout poll finds Congresswoman Cori Bush, a virulent anti-Israel activist, trailing one of her challengers by a stunning 22 points in the upcoming Democrat primary.
The poll finds Bush with just 28 percent support, badly trailing St Louis County Prosecutor and former Ferguson city councilman Wesley Bell's 50 percent.
If true, it would be a surprising result. There is little public polling on the race, but it is generally thought that Bush will be safely re-elected.
In 2023 Bush raised $924,076.17, with $215,571.36 left to spend as of December 31. Bell raised $773,389.03, with $408,779.91 left to spend.
The news came just days after it was reported Bush, an outspoken advocate for “Defund The Police,” spent $750,000 on private “security,” much of which appears to have gone to her husband, who is not a licensed security guard.
Most members of Congress do not have private security, much less a lower-ranking member like Bush. Members of Congress who do have private security generally do not spend $750,000 for it.
The poll was conducted Feb. 7 to 9 among 401 likely Democrat primary voters.
