Ron v. Don: Ugly GOP Infighting Risks Far Too Much

-

is known for handing out some whopper nicknames to and fellow . Having suffered years of (Republicans In Name Only), I truly enjoyed him calling everyone and anyone out over the past eight years. In 2016, it helped push the conservative message and give congressional members more backbone.

But the 2024 election is not 2016. It is not even 2020. The heart and soul of our nation are at stake in this presidential race. As conservatives, Republicans, freedom-loving citizens and workers with 401(k)s, we cannot afford to lose the White House to a Democrat. This is a must-win situation.

Our former President Donald Trump did a great job in the White House. That's undisputed.  However, it is questionable whether he can win the general election. That's why there will be a primary.

Another true, proven conservative is stepping onto the national stage. That's 's Governor . His credentials and track record are unquestionably conservative.  Where most Governors and politicians have cowered for decades, DeSantis has led. Woke Disney lost their property tax breaks because DeSantis had the courage like no other. He has made Florida the freest state in the country.

So as DeSantis is considering jumping into the Presidential race, Trump has been discussing possible nicknames for him. Of course, in true Trump style, they would be less than flattering. But, is DeSantis, of all people, worthy of the bash? I think not.

We don't need a bare-knuckle fight between Ron and Don. I am not saying either of them is weak or not up to the battle. What I am saying is that our Republican nominee cannot come out of the primary with a thousand battle scars.

Already, DeSantis has survived many attacks from Trump and Trumpers. Mike Lindell even called him a traitor. Really? On what has DeSantis betrayed the conservative movement?  Answer: nothing. In this one case, Trump might hurt himself more than DeSantis with the nickname because we have all seen for years that Ron is a courageous conservative and a nickname is not going to rewrite his record.

A brawl between Ron and Don benefits the RINOs and the Democrats. Our focus must be putting our best foot forward to win in November 2024.

  1. My thoughts exactly. Donald Trump does not need to stoop to name-calling. All he needs to do is present his agenda. Maybe borrow Ronald Reagan’s slogan: “are you better of now than you were 4years ago? Is our country?

  2. I love President Trump. However, I do think he needs to stop the name calling. Name calling is unjustified in DeSantis’ case and will only serve to make people like DeSantis more. PRESIDENT TRUMP: PLEASE STOP THE NAME CALLING. It will serve absolutely no good purpose.

  3. We must win this election with policy, class and integrity. The conservative agenda is the right one for America going forward but we must win with dignity and not name calling and a condescending tone. The candidate that fits this mold is are only hope as Republicans.
