ANALYSIS – As Joe Biden intentionally fails to do his constitutional duty to protect our borders, and Texas becomes ground zero for a crushing wave of illegal migrants some have likened to an invasion, Texas Governor Greg Abbott is filling the breach.
“The federal government has neglected its primary and constitutionally assigned responsibility to its citizens — protecting them. Texas has no choice but to lead,” read a November statement from Texas Public Policy Foundation, reported by the Texas Tribune.
The governor has now sent over more than 400 Texas National Guard personnel to El Paso on Monday “as part of the Governor's enhanced border security effort,” according to a statement.
Beginning Monday night, the National Guard along with Texas state troopers deployed about 1,000 yards of razor wire to block one of the most popular crossing points between Mexico and this border city.
The Texas forces have also positioned Humvees and Texas Department of Public Safety patrol vehicles on the banks of the river to close off access.
Earlier this month, a mob of more than 1,000 migrants crossed in just a four-hour period.

Before National Guard and state troopers deployed to the river Monday night, hundreds of migrants had crossed and formed a line against the steel fence on the U.S. side, waiting for Border Patrol agents to apprehend and process them. Many have been released into the city after processing, which has filled El Paso's shelters and forced the city to repurpose various facilities to use as shelters.
Meanwhile, Gov. Greg Abbott demanded Tuesday that the Biden administration “immediately deploy federal assets” to El Paso and other border cities ahead of the arctic weather.
All this is happening as the Supreme Court has temporarily blocked Biden's attempt to end Title 42 which allows for expedited expulsion of migrants to prevent the spread of COVID.
Texas was one of the 19 red states that asked a federal court to keep Title 42 in place beyond Wednesday. On Monday, they asked the U.S. Supreme Court to stop the policy's scheduled lifting.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton vowed to continue to fight to keep Title 42. He tweeted Monday after the court's decision: “The fight to keep Title 42 in place continues. I will continue to do everything I can in court to ensure our border is secure.”
These recent moves also follow the governor's increased use of the term ‘invasion' to refer to the current uncontrolled wave of illegal migration surging into his state. ALD

Gov. Abbot is a treasure ! McCarthy addressed this similar non-American type action by the Democrats in his address to the House in which few Democrats showed up for business regarding the new Omnibus Bill that leaves America deeper than ever before in debt with no protection from this invasion. All border governors must stand like Abbot to protect Americans from this onslaught and wasteful spending.
