The chairman of the Florida Republican Party, who's under investigation for rape, has been deposed.
Christian Ziegler had refused calls to resign after a woman he claimed to have consensual sex with accused him of rape. Ziegler and his wife, Bridget Ziegler, Moms for Liberty co-founder and Sarasota school board member, admitted to having a threesome with the woman one year before the alleged rape occurred.
The scandal resulted in calls for Ziegler's resignation, and to a lesser extent, for his wife's. The couple had managed to withstand the pressure until today.
Ziegler reportedly didn't attend Monday's vote by the state party executive committee.
He has been replaced by Florida Republican Party Vice Chair Evan Power.
The executive committee's decision was expected following last week's news that the Sarasota Police Department is investigating Ziegler.
