In April, passed a controversial new law that targets hate speech, including the misgendering of transgender individuals. The and Public Order (Scotland) Act 2021 makes it a to “stir up hatred” based on several protected characteristics, such as age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, transgender identity, or being intersex. Offenders could face up to seven years in prison.

Libertarian television presenter John Stossel breaks down the repercussions:

According to the law, a person can be prosecuted if they.

It didn't get much more coverage in the MSM than this on Fox News but the shooting last week at Fort Bragg/Liberty, North Carolina, certainly raised many questions and has spooked special operations families across the country. A soldier, part of an elite unit at Fort Liberty, shot 35-year-old Ramzan Daraev from Chicago at about 8:15 p.m. on May 3 after reporting a trespasser on the property in Carthage, N.C., according to the Moore County Sheriff's Department. Deputies responding to the call found Daraev, a native of Chechnya in , dead of multiple gunshot wounds, according to sheriff's department officials. The soldier has not yet been arrested. His family alleges Dariev, was taking photos of their children.

Here's a brief synopsis of what happened, courtesy of the Moore County Sheriff's Department:

On the evening of May 3, 2024, at approximately 8:15 PM, Moore County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a report of trespassing at a residence along Dowd Road in Carthage, North Carolina. The caller indicated that an individual was observed taking photographs on the property and had become aggressive towards another resident outside their home.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered the body of 35-year-old Ramzan Daraev from Chicago, Illinois, who appeared to have sustained gunshot wounds. Daraev was found approximately 250 yards from the roadway, along a powerline on the residential property. Identification was not found on Daraev; however, his identity was later confirmed through family members and an international identification located in his vehicle.

Daraev was reported to have been working as a subcontractor for Utilities One, a company based in New Jersey, at the time of his death. Investigators are still working to verify his official employment status. At the time of the incident, Daraev was not in possession of any utility equipment, utility clothing, or identification. The incident has been reported to the U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Stars and Stripes reports:

“The local investigation has not uncovered evidence of a federal ,” the spokesperson said Tuesday. “The FBI is in regular contact with sheriff's office investigators and are prepared to investigate if a federal matter comes to light.”

“Once all facts have been collected and reviewed, the case will be presented to the district attorney's office for a determination on whether criminal charges will be pursued,” sheriff's officials said in a statement. “The Moore County Sheriff's Office is committed to conducting a thorough and impartial investigation.”

Our security expert Mike McMaken emailed me with a few thoughts and quotes:

  • They were illegals.
  • Although claiming they were working for the utility company, they were there after sunset, had no local ID and were not wearing any of the usual reflective vests and hard hats utility employees usually wear.
  • No advance notice was given as is usual with utility companies.
  • They spoke broken English and their phones had Russian contacts. “The phones collected at the scene have been taken to an Army base for analysis.”
  • As I understand it, they had been there before. “Apparently the Colonel had his own cameras up and this was the 3rd or 4th visit” by Daraev (and Adsalan) and that there have been “a lot of suspect things in the area, family members [of special forces soldiers] followed, etc.”
  • The company they claimed to work for has Russians in the C-suite.
  • Chechnya is a firm ally and part of Russia.

It's not the first weird interaction. (RELATED: Declassified Report Points To Fed Cover-Up Of Sonic Weapon Causing ‘Havana Syndrome')
