ANALYSIS – Pressured by the growing leftist anger over his policies toward Israel and its war against Hamas, Joe Biden has proposed a ceasefire deal that neither Israel nor Hamas really wants.
However, both Biden and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu feel increased domestic political pressure to agree to something.

The negotiations come as fighting continues in Rafah, which came under intense Israeli airstrikes over the weekend.
An aide to Netanyahu confirmed on Sunday that Israel had accepted a framework deal, though he described it as highly flawed and in need of much more work.
Ophir Falk, chief foreign policy advisor to Netanyahu, said Biden's proposal was “a deal we agreed to – it's not a good deal but we dearly want the hostages released, all of them.”
“There are a lot of details to be worked out,” he added, saying that Israeli conditions, including “the release of the hostages and the destruction of Hamas as a genocidal terrorist organization” have not changed. (RELATED: Biden's Dangerous Plan To Import Terror-Supporting Gazans)
Meanwhile, ramping up the pressure, Team Biden says it has “every expectation” that if Hamas takes the deal, Israel will accept a ceasefire proposal that would begin with a six-week cessation of hostilities in Gaza.
The three-part plan would also see a “surge” of humanitarian aid, as well as an exchange of some hostages for Palestinian prisoners before a permanent end to the war.
On Friday, the Washington Post reported that Hamas said it viewed Biden's plan “positively” and that its willingness to move forward is solely “based on a permanent ceasefire” and the “complete withdrawal” of Israeli forces from Gaza.
The proposal, however, has encountered strong opposition from some members of Israel's government. Two far-right Israeli ministers threatened to quit the country's governing coalition if Netanyahu agreed to the deal.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said they were opposed to striking any deal before Hamas was destroyed.
Netanyahu has also insisted there will be no ceasefire until Hamas's political and military capabilities are destroyed and all hostages are released. (RELATED: Fox News: AIM's Latest Video Is A Must-Watch – ‘Which Is Your Favorite Terrorist Group?')
Hanoch Milwidsky, a senior member of the Knesset for Netanyahu's Likud party, stated:
The math of the Israeli government has not changed – that means Hamas can no longer rule Gaza, can no longer have any capability, not military, not any civilian capability to be in power, and all the hostages need to come back. The war will not stop until these demands are met.
On Monday, Netanyahu was quoted by Israeli media as saying that the first phase of a U.S.-promoted plan, entailing a limited hostage release by Hamas, could be undertaken without necessary agreement on what follows.
This, suggested Israel sees a possibility of entering an initial Gaza truce though it has ruled out ending the war as demanded by Hamas.
