THURSDAY – Voters, please think about the menace of nuclear annihilation. Future historians, if there are any, will be dumbfounded. Today, uncountable dollars and unquantifiable hysteria are devoted to the distant threat of climate change. 

Meanwhile, negligible public anxiety accompanies the intensifying danger of global incineration from nuclear war. And is only making it worse.

MEANWHILE – Russian space nuke could render low-Earth orbit unusable for a year, US official says. Moscow's recent veto of a UN resolution against putting nuclear weapons in space raises grave concerns.

AND – US official urges China, Russia to declare only humans, not AI, control nuclear weapons.  Only humans, and never artificial intelligence, should make decisions on deploying nuclear weapons.

US POWER OVERSEAS

US military pier to begin operations off Gaza as soon as this weekend. Operations will begin by Friday. However, that timeline could be delayed by weather or logistical issues.

US says it will return to Chad for talks to keep troops in the country. It hopes to revise an agreement that allows it to keep troops based there, an American general said Wednesday.

US Army brigade begins long-haul convoy inside the Arctic Circle. More than a thousand U.S. soldiers are making a long-distance trek this week in upper Norway, bound for a Finnish artillery range for drills showcasing stepped-up efforts to defend NATO's new Arctic border with Russia.
