Will Iran Go Nuclear Under Biden?

-

ANALYSIS – Democrats and their liberal allies in the establishment blame former President for moving increasingly closer to producing nuclear weapons. This, because he withdrew the U.S. in 2018 from the flawed Obama nuclear deal (JCPOA).

But it is who has allowed Iran to rapidly build up its nuclear capability.

And not only that, but Biden has rewarded and enabled Iranian nuclear efforts to the tune of billions of dollars in sanctions relief.

That is why Iran now has more than 14,600 gas centrifuges spinning uranium hexafluoride gas to separate and enrich the isotope uranium-235. Weapons-grade uranium contains 90% purity U-235. (RELATED: Israel's Limited Counterstrike Against Iran Is A Warning, Not An Escalation)

Yes, the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) introduced limits on Iran's nuclear activities in exchange for the lifting of international sanctions against Tehran. But it was virtually unenforceable, and simply kicked the nuke can down the road.

And whether Tehran began ramping up its work on nukes after Trump's withdrawal, doesn't change the fact that most of Iran's latest nuke work has been completed under Biden. Under Trump's “maximum pressure” campaign of increased sanctions, Iran couldn't do much. (RELATED: Biden Should Kill Head Of Iran's Terrorist Quds Force, Like Trump Did)

But then came Biden bearing gifts. So, in 2022, for the first time, Iran began enriching to 60% – a level of purity the U.N. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) says is technically indistinguishable from weapons-grade fuel.

According to the IAEA's latest quarterly report, its stock of enriched uranium, capped at 300kg under the deal, stood at 5.5 tons in February.

Iran denies having a nuclear weapons program though Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has said that if it wanted to, world leaders “wouldn't be able to stop us.”

In its report, the IAEA said: “Public statements made in Iran regarding its technical capabilities to produce nuclear weapons only increase the Director General's concerns about the correctness and completeness of Iran's safeguards declarations.”

Estimates of how long Iran would need for weaponization vary between months and a year. (RELATED: Biden Warns Netanyahu After Helping Israel Thwart Iran Assault)

This is partly why, as I wrote earlier sent a message to Iran with its missile strike against an Iranian air defense missile site near its nuclear facilities.

However, as the Daily Beast reports, Iran could also speed up its nuke efforts:

the [recent Israeli] attack on Esfahan was, in the eyes of many, designed to demonstrate that Israel had the capability to attack Iran's nuclear facilities, some of which are located in that Iranian city. And the Iranians just days ago warned that should Israel launch an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities they would accelerate their efforts to finalize the development of their own nuclear weapons.

Joseph Cirincione, a respected Washington, D.C. nuclear weapons expert, said that Friday's “limited strike by Israel does not appear to have changed Iran's posture. But more serious attacks certainly would. Some factions in the Iranian government are already pushing to expand the nuclear program and for strikes on Israel with more advanced missiles.”

He added, “Any Israeli attacks on Iran's nuclear sites wouldn't stop the program, they would accelerate it. Iran would conclude that Israel posed an existential threat to the government and the nation, requiring an extraordinary response.”

Still, Israel's strike may also have the sobering effect intended, explains The Daily Beast:

Kim Ghattas… offered a different perspective, stating, “Iran's policy of proxies is not working for them anymore so they might feel the need to ramp up nuclear work. But Israel's strikes show the potential consequences of that angle—they can strike deep inside Iran.”

So, here we are. Iran is on the brink of producing nuclear weapons, with Israel showing it can and will strike Iran's nuke sites.

All while Biden's Iran-infiltrated and compromised team keeps doing everything to coddle Iran and restrain Israel.
