An Ionia County man who shot an 84-year-old pro-life activist distributing pamphlets has learned his fate.
Richard Harvey must complete 100 hours of community service, pay $347.19 in restitution, forfeit his gun and have no contact with Joan Jacobson.
Whom he shot in the back.
Harvey, 75, will serve 60 days in jail if he does not stick to the deal. Jacobson had been door-knocking in opposition to Michigan Proposal 3, the Right to Reproductive Freedom Initiative.
Harvey had pled no contest to felonious assault and reckless discharge of a firearm.
Harvey claimed he meant to fire a warning shot after Jacobson confronted his wife, who said she had an ectopic pregnancy.
FOX 17 West Michigan reports:
On the other hand, Jacobson claimed she was walking away when she was shot. Just as she was leaving, she says Harvey came out of a barn on the property, holding a gun.
“I no sooner saw the man when I heard the shot, and I felt pain,” said Jacobson. “I was so stunned. He didn’t say anything to me; she didn’t say anything to me, I didn’t say anything to them.”
Jacobson drove herself to the hospital after the shooting.

Another instance of some ‘Democrat (non)prosecutor’ NOT doing their duty! What a clown sentence for someone ‘shooting another in the back.’ What did he shoot her with, a BB gun, as she was able to drive herself to the hospital? No matter the gun, this is nothing less than ‘Assault with the intent to do bodily harm.’
In Michigan, Assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder is a felony conviction punishable by a fine up to $5,000.00 or up to 10 years in prison, NOT “community service” and a fine of $347.19 in restitution! BTW, for what “restitution?

If you are “pro-life” and stand on your own property with a rifle or hand gun pointed skyward, and an pro-abortionist confronts you with their dribble, you will be charged with a “hate crime” and attempted murder. Then you will rot in jail awaiting trial, your property will be confiscated, and your legal defense will bankrupt you!

With such an injustice (sentence certainly did not suit the crime), this is the perfect time to use Liberals’ tactics, and sue the shooter in civil court. Reckless endangerment, attempted manslaughter, pain, suffering, mental anguish – go for all of it!
This is beyond outrageous. Think of some of the sentences people received for actions on January 6th. The guy who sat down at Pelosi’s desk got four and a half years in prison. This man shot an 84-year-old woman who was walking away from him and gets community service. Sentences happen only to the people who believe differently from the administration in charge.

Michigan is a hell hole state. The criminals are in the government so they let murderers go back on the street. You can blame the people of Michigan who voted back in the murderer governor again. Michigan you are being laughed at for your stupidity and laziness. Young people in schools in that state can’t read, make change or boil water. They have no skills to survive in the real world. The colleges are run by Communist professors.. Murders every day in the democrat’s run cities. Adults in Michigan are cowards. Whitless and her crew were re-elected because of of the abortion issue on the ballot. All kinds of money from outside the state came in pushing the ballot proposal. They managed to get a large number of college students to the polls and they voted for the proposal and Democrats who supported it. Very disappointed in the results.
