Sen. Joe Manchin’s Wife Hospitalized After Car Crash

-

Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) is providing an update after his wife was hospitalized after a car wreck on Tuesday.

The West Virginia Democrat says his wife is in “stable condition” after another vehicle struck her car while traveling in Alabama.

“On Monday, my wife Gayle and her colleague Guy Land were involved in a car accident on the way from the airport to the hotel in Birmingham, Alabama, for an Appalachian Regional Commission event that was planned for today,” the  Democrat said in a statement.

“Both were admitted to UAB Hospital and are receiving excellent care,” he continued. “She remains in stable condition but will stay there for a couple of days for precautionary measures.”

Manchin added, “We want to thank the first responders who answered the call and were on-site to provide assistance and support.

Manchin announced he would not seek re-election for his Senate seat last year, creating speculation about whether he'd make a bid in the 2024 presidential race. (RELATED: West Virginia Expert Weighs In – Could Joe Manchin Run for President?)
