Time magazine has issued a correction to its initial report following Tuesday night's debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. The correction came after the publication inaccurately labeled as false Trump's claim that Harris “wants to do transgender operations on illegal aliens in prison.” (RELATED: Megyn Kelly Rips Debate Moderators For Joining Kamala Harris)
During the debate, Trump accused Harris of supporting radical policies, citing a 2019 questionnaire Harris filled out for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) during her 2020 presidential campaign. When asked if she would ensure transgender and nonbinary individuals in prison and immigration detention had access to comprehensive medical treatment, including gender-transition surgery, Harris responded affirmatively.
Time's original report mischaracterized Trump's statement as false but later issued the following correction: “The original version of this story mischaracterized as false Donald Trump's statement accusing Kamala Harris of supporting ‘transgender operations on illegal aliens in prison.'”
The magazine's correction reflects the factual basis for Trump's claim, though it continued to qualify his statement with the term “claimed,” suggesting a subtle attempt to question the framing of his assertions. (RELATED: Kamala Harris Supports Radical Plan To Restructure Supreme Court)
Prior to Time magazine's article, CNN's Erin Burnett covered the story and appeared visibly astounded by her colleague Andrew Kaczynski's reporting on the far-left positions Harris adopted during her 2019 presidential campaign.
Many argue that Burnett's reaction underscores how Harris' progressive stances have largely flown under the radar since she replaced Joe Biden as the Democratic Party's presidential candidate.
