Former President Donald Trump's campaign press secretary told Kimberly Guilfoyle that the Trump team intends to have “soldiers” monitor polling stations come Election Day 2024. (RELATED: What Republicans Need To Win On Election Day May Surprise You)
Karoline Leavitt, who unsuccessfully ran for Congress in New Hampshire's 1st Congressional District in 2022, explained the plan on Guilfoyle's Rumble podcast.
Leavitt began by expressing her excitement at the prospect of working hand in glove with the newly-appointed, Trump-endorsed leaders at the RNC: “We're so excited about our recent merger with the Republican National Committee and the new leadership we have there in both Lara Trump and Michael Whatley. Our team is already working hand-in-hand with the staff at the RNC as one very lean and mean machine, as we like to call it, with one goal, and that goal is victory for Republicans up and down the ballot on November 5th.” (RELATED: RNC Sues Nevada Secretary Of State)
Leavitt emphasized the importance of ground game operations. She commended the campaign's field staff for their direct voter contact efforts in battleground states and for educating voters on laws, particularly early voting rules. She then detailed the campaign's Election Day game plan:
And then we're also investing a lot of money into voter integrity efforts to ensure that every American knows their ballot will be cast and counted and matter, and we're gonna play offense this time around. We're not gonna play defense like we unfortunately did in 2020. We're gonna have soldiers, poll watchers on the ground who are making sure that there are no irregularities and fraud like we saw in the last election cycle.
Guilfoyle responded enthusiastically: “I love it. I cannot wait. It's gonna be fantastic.”
Mediaite's Charlie Nash has more:
In 2020, Trump urged his supporters to independently monitor polling stations for evidence of fraud.
“I am encouraging my supporters to go into the polls and watch very carefully because that's what has to happen,” said Trump at the time. “I am urging them to do it.”
Trump also threatened to send “sheriffs and law enforcement” to polling stations to monitor for fraud.
Trump ended up losing that election by 4.5%.
