ANALYSIS – It's been nearly a year since angry conservatives began their highly effective grassroots boycott of Bud Light beer over its transgender social media marketing effort featuring trans activist Dylan Mulvaney.
And now former president Donald Trump is being added to the prior list of conservative sellouts asking his supporters to forgive and forget and just bury the hatchet with Budweiser, which has never apologized for its epic mistake.
Did they buy him, too?
The New York Post reported:
The former president took to his social media platform Truth Social on Tuesday and declared that Anheuser-Busch was “not a woke company” and that it had already paid a “very big price” for Bud Light's ad campaign …
Trump added that it was time to move on from outrage over the ads, which he called “a mistake of epic proportions.”
The former president noted that Anheuser-Busch “spends $700 million a year with our great farmers” and employs 65,000 Americans.
Trump's post on Truth Social came just weeks before a top GOP lobbyist for Anheuser-Busch was scheduled to host a fundraiser for the former president's re-election campaign…
The Post added: “Critics accused Trump of only defending the global beverage company because a top Republican lobbyist for Anheuser-Busch is set to host a fundraiser for the former president next month, with some tickets going at $10,000 each.”
The outlet noted that: “Noah Rothman, a writer for National Review, criticized Trump for his embrace of Anheuser-Busch — accusing the 45th president of getting ‘bought out of the culture wars.'”
Rothman also took aim at Trump for abandoning the “effective and organic effort by cultural conservatives to convince corporate America that social-justice activism doesn't pay.” “Not only does it pay,” he added, “it pays off all the right people.”
The boycott has cost the company billions of dollars amidst a 30% drop in sales since April 2023. It is one of the most successful boycotts in modern history. Rather than apologize, the beer company then went into overdrive trying to recover the brand.
First the behemoth beverage company that owns Bud Light, Anheuser-Busch, and In-Bev, brought back their majestic Clydesdales horses in some powerful ads. Then, the company tried reaching out to veterans' groups with a patriotism push.
All to no avail, as conservatives stuck to their guns against Bud Light and the trans agenda.
But then the company got smart and started buying off powerful conservative media figures, organizations and politicians.
The first one they bought was Dana White who runs the wildly popular UFC sports enterprise that promotes mixed martial arts (MMA) fighting.
In what is likely a multi-million dollar deal (well over nine figures), and after dropping Bud Light in favor of the now more popular Modelo beer, Bud Light will again become the official beer of the UFC in 2024.
White similarly spouted off Anheuser-Busch talking points about the company employing 65,000 Americans and supporting veterans and first responders.
“I could keep going on forever and tell you why I am more aligned with Anheuser-Busch than any of the other beer companies that were offering to pay us money,” White said.
He then went on a “we aren't woke” media spin tour, where he joined another conservative TV figure, Sean Hannity, who was also apparently successfully co-opted by the beer company.
Conservative radio hosts Buck Sexton and Clay Travis (who I generally agree with and like) also appear to have been co-opted, saying about the deal, “that's a lot of money,” and noting that they might take that kind of money from Bud Light, too.
And now It may be former President Donald Trump and fellow Republican lawmakers in Congress who appear to be selling out as well.

Will Trump Dump JD Vance?
ANALYSIS – Is Trump regretting his VP pick? Will Trump tell Vance he is “fired”? When former President Donald Trump selected J.D. Vance as his vice presidential candidate soon after surviving an assassination attempt, some called the choice bold and a doubling down on Trumpism.
I said he could help Trump make his case in 2024 and be the GOP standard bearer in 2028. Still, I also said I would have preferred Trump had picked a woman, and that I had some reservations about Vance as VP, including his youth and inexperience.
