House Democrat To Officially Challenge President Biden

-

House Democrat Dean Phillips (Minn.) is reportedly planning to officially launch his presidential campaign this Friday.

The 54-year-old millionaire businessman and co-founder of a gelato company turned three-term House Democrat is expected to hold an event on the plaza outside New Hampshire‘s Statehouse in Concord, and to file for the primary inside the building, in the Secretary of State's office, those familiar with his plans confirm to Fox News.

The Minnesota Congressman has been hinting for months about challenging and has openly encouraged other Democrats to enter the primary.

“I would like to see a moderate governor, hopefully from the heartland, from one of the four states that Democrats will need,” he said to NBC's “Meet The Press.”

He continued, “Anybody who wants to run, Joe ManchinCornel West… that's why we have primaries because that doesn't undermine the likelihood of returning, in this case, a Democrat to the White House. I'm actively inviting, encouraging to some degree, imploring, that people who are ready and know it's probably time to do so take the chance.”

Earlier this month, Phillips made the strongest indication yet that he planned to run for the White House when he resigned from his leadership role as co-chairman of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee.
