The leader of the nation's largest commercial bank wants Democrats to boost Nikki Haley's presidential campaign. The announcement by JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon comes one day after the Koch network endorsed Haley in an attempt to push the GOP past the Trump-era.
“If you're a very liberal Democrat, I urge you to help Nikki Haley, too,” Dimon said at a forum for global and business leaders. “Give them a choice on the Republican side that might be better than Trump.” (RELATED: Influential Conservative Network Endorses Nikki Haley Ahead Of Iowa Caucus)
As Politico reports:
Dimon has been talking up Haley in recent weeks as the former South Carolina governor has gained in the polls. While she's still trailing well behind Trump, she has won endorsements from an influential super PAC backed by the Koch network and has started to fundraise with Wall Street heavyweights.
When pressed if he'd support “anything but Trump,” Dimon pushed back.
“I would never say. He might be the president, I have to live with that too,” he said.
Dimon also urged wealthy liberals to stop disrespecting Trump supporters.
“You're insulting a large group of people,” he said, adding that both sides could learn from each other. “I just think people [should] stop denigrating each other all the time because people take a point of view that is different than yours.”
Dimon's comments came while on stage at the 2023 DealBook Summit in Manhattan. Many of the world's wealthiest executives were present.
Elon Musk and Vice President Kamala Harris have separate scheduled appearances there today.
