Kamala Harris and Tim Walz both have well documented histories of aligning themselves with causes that reduce the consequences for illegal immigrants or eliminating our border altogether by calling for the abolition of Immigration Customs & Enforcement (ICE) — and both have supported giving driver's licenses to illegal immigrants.
The Daily Caller reports:
Harris' office dropped charges against Roberto Galo in June 2010 after he was stopped by police for driving the wrong way down a one-way road and arrested for operating a vehicle without a license, according to the Free Beacon. Months later, in November 2010, he slammed his car into 25-year-old law student Drew Rosenberg after making a left-hand turn at a yellow light, driving his car over his body multiple times in an apparent attempt to escape.
A person near the scene of Galo's crash had to stand in front of his vehicle to prevent him from fleeing the scene of the crime, the Free Beacon reported. It took five men to lift Galo's vehicle off Rosenberg's body.
San Francisco law enforcement under Harris was reluctant at the time to prosecute cases against unlicensed drivers as activists claimed that such laws targeted illegal immigrants unfairly, according to the Free Beacon. A prosecutor in Harris' DA office later told Rosenberg that her office prosecuted zero cases against unlicensed drivers during the year prior to his son's death.
Galo was initially charged with vehicular homicide, but a judge later reduced the charge to misdemeanor homicide, the Free Beacon reported. Rosenberg said that Harris' office failed to provide him with the date of the court hearing where the charges against Galo were reduced and initially declined to appeal the downgraded charges.
His father, Drew Rosenberg, was a lifelong liberal and had supported Kamala Harris prior to his son's death. Since the tragedy, he's become an activist, demanding common sense enforcement of immigration law.
In his own words: “The illegal aliens are not victims, they are the perpetrators. Many of them are nice, hardworking people…but there's more than enough crime.” He said that before his son was killed he didn't realize how much the government got away with by hiding the scale and consequences of illegal immigration from American citizens, and police and prosecutors seemed to care more about protecting illegal aliens than they cared about their victims.
This was far from an isolated incident. For years, news headlines have been flooded with heart wrenching stories of illegal immigrants driving recklessly and costing American citizens their lives. Despite the mountains of evidence presenting the dangers of illegal immigrants driving, and the blatant disrespect for American laws exhibited by driving drunk with no legal right to be in a country, a staggering 150 person majority of House Democrats voted against a bill to deport all illegal immigrants caught drunk driving. A measly 59 Democrats voted in favor of it.
The law would violate the “sanctuary” status that many leftists support, requiring ICE to be able to coordinate with law enforcement shortly after an illegal alien was caught driving under the influence. That same week, 155 Democrats voted against a bill to deport illegal immigrants convicted of social security fraud that targets and disenfranchises American citizens.
