Kari Lake Spins Bribery Tale At CPAC

-

Former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake says that some “powerful people back East” desperately want her out of and are willing to do anything to make it happen

“Something happened to me this week before I left for [the Conservative Political Action Conference] CPAC, and it shows how desperate these people are to stop me and to silence you. I decided to share this. It's a little bit controversial, but I'm going to put this out,” Lake said while addressing the crowd.

After Lake's November loss to then- Secretary of State Katie Hobbs (D) the former TV reporter has challenged the election results in court, arguing that problems with ballot printers at some polling places resulted from intentional misconduct and interference.

The pro-Trump Republican told attendees that someone called her shortly before arriving at her front door, insisting the matter was too sensitive to discuss over the phone.

“They came to my door and they tried to bribe me out of getting out of politics. It's really happened. I'm telling you this because this is how disgusting politics is. A mom who runs for office and they're afraid of me. They tried to bribe me with a job title with a huge salary, a position on a board. This is how they do it,” Lake explained.

However, despite the cushy perks the Arizona Republican said she was not interested in any handouts.

“I said, ‘Are you kidding me?' I walked away from a big job and a big salary. I'm not motivated by that stuff, guys. Not. So this person standing before me was sent at the request of some powerful people back East. They want me out,” Lake said.

However, despite dark forces' best attempts to divert Lake away from the world of politics, she is not budging and her support is only growing.

Lake, who is rumored to be considering a 2024 run, won CPAC's vice presidential straw poll.

Among a field of 28 candidates, Lake won the poll with 20 percent of the vote, beating former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. DeSantis received 14 percent of the vote, and Haley, who announced her bid for the White House last month, won 10 percent.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, who has declared his campaign for the presidency, each received six percent of the vote. All of the other Republicans listed in the field, including former  Mike Pence, did not receive more than five percent.

won the CPAC presidential straw poll with 62 percent, while Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), likely his closest rival, came in at 20 percent

Lake's official campaign Twitter account reacted to the CPAC straw poll results by suggesting she'd be unable to serve in the role.

“We're flattered, but unfortunately our legal team says the Constitution won't allow for her to serve as Governor and VP at the same time,” it said.
