The Harris Walz campaign has desperately tried to distance Kamala Harris from her far left 2020 presidential run, and in an apparent extension of that effort, a long list of mainstream media outlets have attempted to portray her newly announced running mate Tim Walz as a “moderate” despite all evidence to the contrary.
As governor of Minnesota, Walz endorsed, signed or supported some of the most radical policy changes in the country, including major gun control initiatives (often using fabricated combat service to legitimize his positions to voters), free college, healthcare and driver's licences for illegal immigrants, and turning Minnesota into a “transgender sanctuary” where children are able to travel across state lines to obtain cross-sex hormones, medications and surgeries without parental consent (and on the taxpayer's dime) — and where the state removed the vast majority of age restrictions for procedures and drugs with permanent, lifelong effects — and in many cases, lifelong regrets and hardships.
The Daily Caller reported:
Walz, who is now presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris' running mate, instructed Minnesota's Department of Human Services (DHS) to ensure “up-to-date, medically necessary gender affirming treatments are covered” for reimbursement by the state's health care program in a March 2023 executive order. Later that month, the Health Services Advisory Council (HSAC), a 14-member council appointed by the DHS commissioner, took up the issue of reforming the policy over the course of five meetings beginning in March, according to meeting minutes and other public records.
The HSAC ultimately voted not to add age criteria for breast removal and recommended following “WPATH standards” for a range of other procedures. Based on the council's recommendations, the DHS updated the coverage policy in September 2023 to “remove most age restrictions,” except for a requirement to be over 18 for phalloplasty.
The World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) has long positioned itself as a medical association guided by science, but in March of this year, it was exposed as an activist group that only exists to give cover to doctors who don't want to be sued by allowing them to say they were just following experts' standards in an explosive report uncovering hundreds of internal documents.
The report uncovered a Canadian WPATH endocrinologist admitting “When we start people on testosterone or estrogen, you know, we try to be as clear as we can about the stuff that's going to be permanent and the stuff that's going to go backwards. [But] I think the thing you have to remember about kids is that we're often explaining these sorts of things to people who haven't even had biology in high school yet.”
In a document SOC-8 leadership created to defend their recommendations, Coleman identified “academics and scientists who are naturally skeptical” and “continuing pressure in health care to provide evidence-based care” as sources of the “attack” on trans healthcare, according to court documents from a case challenging Alabama's ban on sex change procedures for children.
However, according the March report, medical professionals insisting on evidence-based care are the only ones honoring the Hippocratic Oath, or doing their due diligence — especially when it comes to minors and the long list of serious health complications they're subjecting themselves to.
While the HSAC was looking into insurance policy changes, Walz signed the legislature's “Trans Refuge” bill into law. The bill, which protects children who travel to Minnesota for transgender procedures from the law in other states, also gives state courts “temporary emergency jurisdiction” when a child has been “unable to obtain gender-affirming health care.”
“Detransitioners” — or people that formerly identified as transgender, and have reverted back to identifying with their biological sex, have been vocal about the transgender movement — especially as it pertains to minors — being driven by activism as opposed to science and medicine.
