New Polls Suggest DeSantis Has Edge Over Post-Indictment Trump

-

While may be nothing more than a snapshot in time, a new batch of surveys from battleground states indicates former President lost support after his second indictment.

Florida Gov. appears to have seized the initiative following Trump's latest legal drama.

DeSantis leads President Biden in , Georgia and Pennsylvania in a hypothetical general election matchup. Trump does not.

In 2016 and 2020, Trump underperformed in Arizona and Georgia relative to conventional GOP candidates. Most voters in the two traditionally Republican-leaning states reside in their largest metro areas. Some white suburbanites moved from the GOP column during the Trump era, although he made inroads with blue-collar voters and minorities.

As the Washington Examiner reports:

Polling from Public Opinion Strategies showed DeSantis defeating President Joe Biden in a matchup while Trump loses to Biden in Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Arizona, three crucial states that will help determine the next president of the United States and control of . It follows another poll from CNN that shows support for the former president may be softening.

In Georgia, Biden received a 43% favorable rating compared to Trump's 42% and DeSantis's 37% favorable ratings. Yet it was DeSantis who received the lowest unfavorable rating at 43% compared to Biden at 53% and Trump at 54%. In positive news for DeSantis, 48% of those surveyed said they would vote for him for president, while only 45% said they would vote for Biden.

In a matchup between Biden and Trump, Biden received 47% of support compared to 44% who would back the former president. Another sign of possible Trump fatigue: 54% of people said DeSantis could beat Biden, but only 51% said the same for Trump. And 50% of people surveyed said there is no way they would ever vote for Trump as president.

Biden won Georgia during the 2020 presidential matchup with Trump, and the Peach State also kept Democrats in control of the Senate during the 2022 midterm elections. Any 2024 contender will likely need Georgia in order to cinch the presidency.

Nevertheless, Trump remains the frontrunner in the Republican presidential primary, where his support among GOP voters hardly budged following his latest indictment.

  1. A glimpse of a silver lining among the clouds. I really dislike the likelihood of having to vote for Trump a third time, when we have so much a better alternative with DeSantis. If Trump had any honor, he would retire from the race and put his support behind DeSantis. When 50% of those surveyed say they will never vote for Trump is very troublesome for our success in retaking the White House in 2023.
I’m angry that our government and the media have lied and cheated and fixed an election to destroy Trump, but Trump also played a large role in his own defeat in 2020.

    • Are you nuts? Do you even know where DeSantis is getting his money to campaigne? Do you even know it’s truth that Trump helped DeSantis to win the Governorship when hardly anyone ever heard of him. DeSantis may be a good governor, but when he can turn and knife Trump in the back, to me he’s just another not so savory politician! We already have to many of those!! He’ll go the way of most politicians, towards money!

    • No he did nit! He said a truth when he ran in 2016, and that sealed his fate. When he said, ” the Iraq war should have never been, and Bush lied to the American people just to go to war!” That was the end for Trump! He went against the deep state! Then when he was in Davos he stood before world leaders and told them, and i am paraphasing, he will never allow anyone to take over the UNITED STATES, He will preserve their freedoms and work to strengthen the United States! That basically was giving the middle finger to the deep state! He has always stood for freedom, and all Americans. No matter what people’s feelings are, he has been a true patriot, and looks out for this country. He doesn’t put others before us!!
If you want a dictator, vote Democratic!

  2. Is there something in the water that would cause a mental problem? How is it even possible that In Georgia, Biden received a 43% favorable rating compared to Trump’s 42%? Who in their right mind would vote for a dementia patient for the president? Although the people in Pennsylvania did vote for Fetterman!

    • Polls and media cannot be trusted! Fox is falling into the abyss as well!
Trump has thousands upon thousands of supporters. Why would they ever leave him, after all he has done to help Americans.

  3. As far as I am concerned, The Polls’Industry has destroyed its credibility. I no longer trust their results and they look very much like MSM.
