Teamsters Make Massive Donation To Republican Party

-

The Union has a long and complicated history that includes playing a pivotal role helping Democrats win elections.

While President Biden portrays himself as a champion of the working class, it's undeniable that “blue collar” workers have become less than enthralled with the woke policies that dominate today's Democratic Party.

Teamsters President Sean O'Brien met with former President Trump last month. Trump also participated in a public roundtable meeting with members. The union's $45,000 donation to the Republican National Committee () marks its first major donation to Republicans in two decades.

The Teamsters have endorsed every Democratic presidential nominee since the 2000 election.

Per NBC News:

The union backed President in the 2020 election but has yet to endorse a presidential candidate for the 2024 race.

Biden has branded himself as the most pro-union president in history, and he has already secured the endorsement of the union. He made history late last year when he visited a picket line in Michigan to show support for striking autoworkers.

In December, the Teamsters PAC donated $45,000 each to a slew of Democratic organizations, including the DNC's legal fund, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee's legal fund, the DNC's building fund, the DNC's convention fund and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's legal fund.

The last time the Teamsters PAC gave a significant donation to the RNC appears to be a $15,000 donation in 2004, according to an FEC filing.

The union will participate in both parties' conventions this year, the first time since 2000.

“We had a very strong meeting with the Teamsters,” Trump said after last month's discussions with the union, adding that he believes he has a “good shot” at clinching their endorsement.
