With the World Series Champion Atlanta Braves making the traditional champions' presidential visit Monday, the White House used the occasion to pressure Major League Baseball to change the team's name.
Activists claim “Braves” is a racist term that demeans Native Americans.
“We believe that it's important to have this conversation, you know, and Native American and indigenous voices, they should be at the center of this conversation,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in response to a question from Jennifer Jacobs of Bloomberg News asking for Biden's position on the team's name and Native American-themed customs.
“That is something that the president believes, that is something this administration believes and he has consistently emphasized that all people deserve to be treated with dignity and respect,” Jean-Pierre said.
“You hear that often from this president. The same is true here. And we should listen to Native American and indigenous people who are the most impacted by this,” Jean-Pierre said.
But polls consistently show virtually no Native Americans are offended by Native American-themed sports mascots. (RELATED: Air Force Bans Use of ‘Mom and Dad')
A 2016 Washington Post poll found nine in ten Native Americans were not offended by the then-“Washington Redskins” team name, which is far more “problematic” for liberals than “Braves.”
Despite the lack of outrage by Native Americans, “woke” liberals are carrying on the campaign to change team names, which some compare to the “Defund the Police” movement for supposed “racial justice.”

Washington's NFL team eventually dropped its “Redskins” nickname in 2019, but critics allege it was part of a larger move by the team to rebrand itself after decades of losing seasons, poor ticket sales, controversial ownership and sexual misconduct scandals.
Activists successfully pressured Cleveland's MLB team to drop its “Indians” nickname in 2021, though many point to the team's rock-bottom attendance and revenues as a reason for the rebranding.
White House-aligned activists were also behind the successful push to force the MLB to relocate its 2021 All-Star Game from Atlanta, claiming a new Georgia law requiring voters to show photo identification was “racist.”

There are lots of traditions we could take a look at changing after this moron in the White House. Say we change the tradition that anyone no matter how stupid and moronic can be president. How about we change the tradition that does not test their IQ. Perhaps we start vetting Senators, Congressmen, presidents and Judges at least as well as we vet our nanny or school teachers. Lets change the tradition that says elected officials can have children who are also elected officials and lets have term limits so that no one can be in Washington as long as Biden and a couple of others. Let’s do away especially with the tradition of treating these morons with respect or something when they are just are hired hands. We have dropped Aunt Jemima an American hero from syrup and pancake mix, Ben from rice, Papa John from pizza American founding Fathers from history and replaced them with BLM, George Floyd, pronouns that no one understands, etc. Lo and behold! So far all it has caused is the repeal of ML King’s dream. Racial hatred, boys that want to compete in girl sports, grown men prancing around as women thinking they are beautiful and sexy. It still amazes me that this is such a big deal as like is noted in the article at least 90% of the Native Americans have supported leaving the nicknames honoring them. And as pointed out the only people offended seems to be the leftist libtards.
Years ago, the state of californication made it a law any school carrying an Native nickname or logo had to change it. Arcadia High School took the state to court and WON. Their nickname WAS AND STILL IS the Apaches, as when the case was heard, there were 500 Apaches that showed up to show support for the school. The state backed down!
