Yesterday's manhunt in Arizona for a suspect who threatened to kill former President Trump has come to an end. The Cochise County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) identified the suspect as 66-year-old Ronald Lee Syrvud. Notably, Cochise County is the same county where Trump was visiting at the time.
Syrvud was already wanted on multiple outstanding warrants. These include charges from Wisconsin for DUI and failure to appear for DUI, as well as warrants from Graham County, Arizona, for a hit-and-run and felony failure to register as a sex offender.
As Newsweek reports:
Trump visited the county on Thursday, which sits on the U.S.-Mexico border, as part of his campaign efforts linked to immigration.
“I haven't heard about that. They probably want to keep it from me,” he told reporters when asked about the threats on his life.
CCSO told Newsweek that Syvrud had made multiple posts on a social media platform in recent days, but the exact nature of the messages was not made clear.
“We are working closely with all local, state, and federal partners to locate this subject related to the outstanding warrants and the threats investigation,” CCSO public information officer Carol Capas told Newsweek via email.
Fortunately, Syrvud was arrested without incident, bringing the situation to a close.
