In an interview with Sean Hannity, Trump addressed the controversy surrounding the first speaker at his New York rally held at Madison Square Garden, where Tony Hinchcliffe (popularly known as Kill Tony) told a joke where he called Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage and another about carving watermelons with a black attendee.
“I have no idea who he is. Somebody said there was a comedian that joked about Puerto Rico or something. And I have no idea who it was. Never saw him. Never heard of him, and don’t want to hear of him. But I have no idea. They put a comedian in, which everybody does, you throw comedians in, you don’t vet them and go crazy. It’s nobody’s fault. But somebody said some bad things.”
While some may find it believable that Trump was unaware of who he was, it brings into question the judgment of his campaign, allowing someone that hadn’t been on the campaign trail before known for “edgy” humor to give an unvetted speech this close to the election, jeopardizing the historic strides Trump had made with Hispanic voters.
Readers should note that while the mainstream media and the Harris campaign are jumping at the opportunity to portray Trump and his supporters as racists and Nazis, both of Hinchcliffe’s jokes were audibly booed.
Fox News reports:
Hinchcliffe received a wave of condemnation and criticism from both sides of the political aisle, including from Republican Florida Sens. Rick Scott and Marco Rubio and Florida Reps. Carlos Gimenez and María Elvira Salazar.
“I don’t even know who put him in, and I can’t imagine it’s a big deal. I’ve done more for Puerto Rico than any president I think that’s ever – that’s ever been president. When the hurricanes came, I rebuilt. I helped them rebuild their electrical system. I helped them rebuild dams and everything else. That place was hit by so many hurricanes. It’s almost like hurricane alley. I’ve never seen anything like it. And Puerto Ricans love me because I was the president that stood up for them more than any president. I’ve had great relationships with Hispanics, but I’ve had [a] really great relationship with Puerto Rico and people from Puerto Rico.”
Predictably, the Harris campaign offered a different version events in their four page Puerto Rico plan.
“Trump did not acknowledge the scale of Puerto Ricans’ suffering—instead, he patted himself on the back and lied about the death toll while most of Puerto Rico lived without clean water and electricity. Rather than deliver meaningful relief for Puerto Ricans, he visited the island to toss paper towels at a crowd.”
Legendary reggaeton star Don Omar wrote on X in an endorsement of the Harris campaign, “Puerto Rico is my homeland and my identity, and today, more than ever, I raise my island’s flag with pride. Hearing such racist and disdainful words directed at my home and at Latinos is heartbreaking. Trump has shown us, time and again, what he thinks of us, and the thought of him and his administration back in power is deeply concerning.”
The Harris campaign also released a video with Spanish subtitles addressing the controversy, positioning herself as the better candidate for Puerto Ricans, and Puerto Rican celebrities Bad Bunny, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony all shared it to their combined 315 million followers, endorsing her candidacy.

In truth, only those who have nothing else to say will blow this up, just because they have NOTHING they want to say or they will lose 25% of their voting base. Is Kamala Harris really supporting Puerto Rico?
She has backed HAMAS – she has not backed the spanish community. When someone says something like that person, called a comedian, you should feel sorry for him as he is not a nice, not a great, not a respectable person. He made a bad name for himself, and you probably will never hear his name again. The MSG event was 99.99% positive, fabulous fun atmosphere. We all need to rock the town and Republicans did that.
The arrows, the lies and the hatred spewed by the Democrats is unbelievable. Trump calls Harris dumb – well she has showed she is! The Democrats have stooped so low as to call someone whose family is JEWISH a NAZI?
On any scale this HORRIBLE HORRIBLE LIE should have them silenced forever. Anyone in the Democrat party who spread this lie should be removed from office. The public hates you Democrats for always taking the low road and slandering Republicans. We are the party of the people, we kove life, our Religion, our Guns and we are PATRIOTS. Many of us are outspoken but TRUTH and INTEGRITY are a part of us.
