Harris Campaign $20 Million In Debt Despite $1 Billion War Chest

Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign has ended in a financial crisis, with reports revealing that her campaign is carrying at least $20 million in debt after a week of high spending in the final stretch before the election. According to multiple sources, including Politico’s Christopher Cadelago, Harris’s campaign raised over $1 billion but still found itself deep in the red as it wrapped up its push to secure the 2024 Democratic nomination.

A major contributor to the financial woes, according to insiders, was the decision by Harris’s campaign chair, Jen O’Malley Dillon, to prioritize high-profile celebrity fundraising events. The campaign hosted multiple concerts featuring megastars like Katy Perry, Lizzo, Eminem, and Bruce Springsteen. These events were reportedly “all Jen’s idea,” with one campaign staffer describing the spending spree as wasteful.

The Harris campaign relied heavily on the power of celebrity, notably holding a rally in Houston that was deceptively marketed as free Beyonce concert. At the event, the pop star spoke for less than five minutes before exiting and was reportedly paid roughly $10 million for the appearance. One could argue that the Houston rally — which many analysts criticized as a waste of time in a state she had no chance of winning — was emblematic of her campaign’s overall dysfunction and poor leadership, as it was extremely expensive and incensed Harris’s supporters once they realized Beyonce would not be performing.

A Kamala campaign staffer confirmed to Breitbart News that the reports that Harris’s campaign was “$20 million” in debt “is real,” adding that Jen O’Malley Dillon, the Harris campaign chair reportedly “blew through a billion dollars in a few months.”

The concerts that the Harris campaign held with celebrities such as Katy Perry, Lizzo, Eminem, and Bruce Springsteen were reportedly “all Jen’s idea,” the campaign staffer explained.

As a result of being $20 million in debt, Rob Flaherty, the deputy campaign manager for Harris’s campaign is reportedly “currently shopping around the Kamala fundraising email list to anyone who wants” to try to raise the money back for the campaign, the staffer told Breitbart News.

In addition to the financial mismanagement, several former campaign staffers have reportedly not received overdue payments for their work. These unresolved payments have added to the campaign’s growing list of financial troubles, further demoralizing those who had worked to help Harris’s bid.

Despite these efforts, the financial state of the campaign has led many to speculate about the overall management of Harris’s operation. Kaelan Dorr, with MAGA Inc., had previously flagged the campaign’s financial activity as “strange,” claiming that multiple checks had been cut on the same day to pay off debts, further indicating cash flow issues. Dorr had previously raised concerns about the campaign’s media buying activities, which he described as indicative of financial instability in the closing weeks.
