Ahead of a possible congressional investigation, the Biden White House has been ordered to preserve records on 150,000 “missing children” – unaccompanied illegal alien minors who were released from custody into the United States and, predictably, did not show up for their scheduled deportation hearing and now cannot be located.
Representative Chip Roy (R-TX-21) announced in a statement he has demanded the “Biden administration preserve all records and evidence related to the missing unaccompanied alien children who have been brought into the United States under the watch of their administration.”
“The Biden-Harris Administration’s reckless, open-borders policies have led to record-breaking numbers of unaccompanied alien children (UAC) arriving at the southwest border,” Roy wrote to the Departments of Health and Human Services and Homeland Security in his evidence preservation letter.
“As you are both aware, under the Biden-Harris Administration, HHS has lost track of an estimated 150,000 UACs, meaning the whereabouts and well-being of these minors cannot be accounted for, in addition to other allegations of UACs being abused and being poorly vetted to determine whether they are a potential danger to the American people,” Roy added.
The practice of releasing detained illegal aliens into the U.S. with just a promise to show up for a scheduled hearing has long been called “catch and release.”
Roy’s statement “also pointed out that the DHS Office of the Inspector General (OIG) found that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), under Biden’s leadership, failed to serve notices to appear in immigration court on more than 320,000 UACs, which limited ICE’s chance of contacting UACs when they leave HHS custody, thus reducing opportunities to verify their safety and whereabouts.”
“These troubling reports warrant scrupulous oversight,” Representative Roy concluded. “Specifically, I request that you take all reasonable steps to prevent the destruction of all documents, communications, and other information.”
