A new report from the American Principles Project (APP) is raising alarm over the Biden-Harris administration’s treatment of faith-based colleges and universities, claiming that the Department of Education has been unfairly targeting Christian institutions while turning a blind eye to Ivy League schools and other elite universities. The study, released on November 18, paints a picture of an administration using federal enforcement to penalize institutions that are perceived to be ideologically opposed to its progressive agenda, with Christian colleges bearing the brunt of the scrutiny.
According to APP, nearly 70% of the actions taken by the Department of Education in recent years have involved faith-based or career-oriented schools, despite these institutions serving less than 10% of the nation’s students. The organization claims that this disproportionate focus has unfairly singled out Christian colleges, which are often more conservative and resistant to left wing political and social trends.
The report details how the Department’s Office of Enforcement has imposed record-level fines on two of the nation’s most prominent Christian universities: Grand Canyon University and Liberty University. APP claims that the fines levied against these schools are more than the total penalties imposed on all other institutions over the past seven years combined, suggesting that the enforcement efforts have been unusually aggressive in their targeting of faith-based institutions.
“This represents a clear pattern of hostility toward faith-based education and an ideological effort to stifle religious freedom in American higher education,” said Jon Schweppe, the Policy Director at APP, in a statement.
APP’s report highlights that roughly 12 Christian colleges have faced penalties or have been denied federal student aid due to alleged violations of federal regulations, particularly the Clery Act, which mandates that schools report campus crimes and security policies. According to the report, the average fine imposed on Christian colleges for Clery Act violations was about $815,000, a stark contrast to the $228,571 average fine for public and private non-religious institutions. This discrepancy, APP argues, indicates a targeted approach rather than a balanced enforcement of federal rules.
“While major assaults from agencies like the Department of Justice have taken most of the headlines, we should not ignore similarly corrupt efforts in other agencies as well,” Schweppe said. “The Biden-Harris Department of Education has been engaged in a long-running scheme to punish Christian colleges that are ideologically opposed to the left’s agenda. The unfair targeting of these institutions has been egregious, and it needs to stop immediately.”
The APP report paints a picture of a Department of Education that is wielding its enforcement power to advance what it calls the “woke agenda” at the expense of religious liberty. Critics argue that the Biden administration has weaponized government agencies to crack down on conservative and religious institutions that resist their preferred policies on issues like gender identity, same-sex marriage, and free speech.
For example, Liberty University, one of the largest Christian universities in the United States, has faced scrutiny for its religious teachings on marriage and sexuality, as well as its opposition to abortion. Grand Canyon University, another target in the report, has faced similar challenges.

It is time to reverse almost all of Biden/s policies.
It is also time to clean out the “Swamp” of corrupt globalist bureaucrats.
Perhaps we should use the phrase “democrat operatives” instead of using Bidens name. He probably had no idea this was going on. These “aides” of Bidens are the real criminals.
