A person of interest in the public murder of a UnitedHealth executive was taken into custody in Pennsylvania after a dayslong manhunt.
Police identified the suspect as Luigi Mangione, the New York Times reported. A tipster alerted police after the man was spotted in the fast food restaurant.

Investigators are questioning a man in Altoona, Pa., about 85 miles east of Pittsburgh, in connection with the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare Chief Executive Brian Thompson, according to a law-enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation. Police received a tip about the man, who was traveling by bus. The man was found with a firearm suppressor and several fake IDs.
UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was fatally shot outside the Hilton Hotel in Midtown Manhattan on Wednesday morning, per multiple reports.
The suspect wrote the words “delay,” “deny” and “depose” on bullets that are believed to have come from his gun, a law-enforcement official said.
The New York City Police Department said Friday they believed the suspect left the state on a bus. Authorities found surveillance footage showing the suspect entering Central Park on an e-bike, taking a taxi up the west side of Manhattan and entering a bus station. On Thursday, the NYPD released a photograph of the suspect, who was not wearing a mask at the time. Authorities are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the suspect’s arrest.
The FBI is offering up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the crime.
