The House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a war powers resolution aimed at ending unauthorized U.S. military involvement in Iran, marking the most significant congressional challenge yet to President Donald Trump’s handling of the conflict.

The measure, sponsored by Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) invokes the 1973 War Powers Resolution and would require the administration to obtain explicit authorization from Congress before continuing hostilities against Iran, except in cases involving an imminent threat to the United States. The vote followed months of growing bipartisan concern over a conflict that began in.

PAUL’S DEFENSE BRIEF (PDB) – Elon Musk warns Republicans against standing in Trump’s way — or his. Trump’s second term comes with the specter of the world’s richest man serving as his political enforcer.

Musk not only supports Trump’s agenda and Cabinet appointments but is intent on seeing them through to the point of pressuring Republicans who may be less devout.

He also wants to ‘stop’ federal spending for Lockheed Martin’s F-35. Could that happen? North Texas congressional lawmakers are warning against it, but eliminating the program may be easier said than done.

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY – Here’s a roundup of today’s other top defense stories ending the week from conservative national security expert PAUL CRESPO.

Not the President’s Daily Brief, but almost as good – PAUL’S DEFENSE BRIEFING – the PDB:

NATIONAL SECURITY

US military has to be ‘ready to grow’ to take on expanded threats and fight two major conflicts simultaneously, the commandant of the Marine Corps said on Saturday.

CUT THE FAT! – The Army is too top-heavy. It is hard-pressed to meet the requirements of the National Defense Strategy at its current authorized end strength. A major part of the problem is that the Army is awash in staffs, many of which did not exist during World War II, or even in the 1990s. After 9/11, the Army Staff grew by 60 percent, while headquarters and staffs Army-wide ballooned.

HOMELAND SECURITY/LAW ENFORCEMENT

Picatinny Arsenal, the Army facility in NJ had 11 ‘confirmed’ sightings of unauthorized drones flying over in its airspace in recent weeks.

After acquittal in subway chokehold trial, Marine vet Daniel Penny says he put himself in a “very vulnerable position” but felt compelled to act.

Following a huge manhunt, a 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City.

Lawmakers tee up efforts to keep spyware off troops’ devices with a measure to shield them and diplomats from ensnarement by commercial spyware programs.

US defense secretary in Japan reaffirms alliance amid threats from China and North Korea.

Two destroyers, the USS Stockdale and USS O’Kane shot down Houthi weapons while escorting US merchant ships.

POLITICS

NO TAXPAYER-FUNDED TRANS PROCEDURES – LGBTQ advocates are urging lawmakers to vote against the annual defense authorization bill because of language barring military health care from providing specialized care for ‘transgender’ minors.

Lawmakers call for in-depth VA study on the impact of repetitive low-level blast injuries on veterans’ mental health.

Security contractor can seek damages from CNN over false 2021 report about war profiteers who charged Afghans trying to leave their country after the US military withdrawal.

IRAN THREAT/ISRAEL WARS

Israeli warplanes pound Syria as troops reportedly advance deeper into the country and the Israeli military had destroyed Syria’s navy.

Satellite photos show Russian navy exodus from Syria’s Tartus naval base on the edge of the Mediterranean Sea and Syrian missile boats sunk at pier.

Team Biden said Tuesday it will recognize and support a new Syrian government that renounces terrorism, destroys chemical weapons stocks and protects the rights of minorities and women.

CHINA THREAT

China Stages Largest Show of Force in Decades After Taiwan’s President visits US. Nearly 100 Chinese warships and vessels were spotted across the South China Sea, in the waters surrounding Japan and South Korea, and around Taiwan, the first time such a large-scale maritime operation has involved multiple Chinese theater commands and its coast guard.

RUSSIA THREAT – UKRAINE WAR

Biden is rushing aid to Ukraine. Both sides are digging in. And everyone is bracing for Trump.

Negotiations over the war in Ukraine could start ‘in the winter,’ Poland’s leader Tusk says as his country prepares to take over the rotating presidency of the European Union on Jan. 1.

The Russian and Ukrainian militaries are moving to transform their soldiers’ rifles into weapons capable of countering exploding drones, experimenting with different ammunition types to determine the best shot.

South Korea’s ex-defense minister is formally arrested over brief imposition of martial law as authorities investigate whether their acts amount to rebellion.

Russia giving North Korea advanced MiG-29 and Su-27 fighters as payoff for its Ukraine war support isn’t that simple — especially on short notice.

Our Armed Forces would better serve America if the Headquarters Staff were cut by at least 75% and the “deadwood” Generals forced to retire!

your comments/views are on target. hopefully, President Trump is aware of these evolving threats and crises. believe that the military must rid itself of WOKE – any military member that subscribes to WOKE needs to be discharged/separated immediately. military is a war machine–not a social experimentation petri dish. military needs to get back to its mission and return to being professional with military customs and courtesies. btw. i believe we met at DIA.
