CBS News reporter Jan Crawford claimed Senate Democrats have launched a “calculated effort” to undermine public opinion on the Supreme Court.
After CBS correspondent Major Garrett brought up the court’s record-low approval rating on Sunday’s “Face the Nation,” Crawford suggested the issues began way before 2024.
“It really started and took off in the wake of the Dobbs decision, the court’s ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade,” Crawford said. “The outrage was so extreme that you saw, I think, a quite calculated effort to undermine legitimacy of the Supreme Court by Democrats, Senate Democrats. For example, hearings, stories about scandals, some of which were pretty overblown, to say the least. So that has an impact on public opinion.”
She continued, “The public starts to believe this court is corrupt, that this is on the take. None of which is true. This is still a court — you may disagree with their decisions — is a very conservative court. It is not a corrupt court. These are nine justices who have very different views on how to interpret the Constitution, who are kind of in this titanic struggle over law, not politics.”
Crawford referenced the high-profile Supreme Court case on presidential immunity from earlier this summer. The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that ex-presidents like President-elect Donald Trump have substantial immunity from prosecution regarding official acts.
She criticized Democrat opponents who “misrepresented” the case when the decision protects President Biden from prosecution as well.
“When we look at public opinion polls, sure, the court has taken a hit, but that’s true over the years. The court often takes a hit. So do other institutions. In the court’s opinion, the public opinion remains much higher than our other institutions, including the White House, Congress, and, by far, the news media,” Crawford said.

A Fox News poll found the Supreme Court’s approval rating dropped to a record low in 2024 at 38% with a 60% disapproval rating.

Therein lies the problem, when you have 9 people in the Supreme Court who want to interpret the Constitution differently. Honestly, it’s no different than people wanting to say you can interpret the Bible many different ways. That is not true. What God says in His Word is not up to peoples different interpretations. God’s commandments, His laws, are exactly what He says they are and are the same for everyone who has and will walk on this planet. One meaning, not 100. To think he would give two different meanings to a law is insane. Only one is right. Same for the Supreme Court. The Constitution is plain.

I’ve no doubt that Democrats were taking a view to amplify the disapproval the public has for the Supreme Court. Both parties will use that tactic. To be fair, hasn’t Thompson and Alito, with their ethics issues, done more harm than the Democrats. And then Kavanaugh said Roe V. Wade was settled at his Congressional hearing, but his ethics allowed him to flip on that given the chance. Politics is full of poor ethics. So I see the Democrats amplifying the occurrence of that as nothing more than normal. And so-called news shows have become less about news and more about opinions. The rule of law has become tarnished with all these lapses in ethics. The truth is needed, but without facts for support, opinion gains strength. The media often has trouble deciding which is which. I think Crawford rendered an opinion but ignored some of the other facts that undermined the stature of SCOTUS
If the corrupt Globalist Establishment Elite Democrats are attacking, this means we have the best Supreme Court ever.
The Dem’s have lost it, they need to reclaim their party, go back to the days of JFK.
What Dems always DO
It’s not a lapse in ethics that is causing the distrust of the Supreme Court. It is an active campaign by dishonest Democrats to undermine the Supreme Court to create a groundswell of support on false issues in order to justify adding more justices so they can stack the court in their favor. It is liberals who “interpret” the simple words of our constitution to mean something not at all written in the constitution to address political issues and the opinions of their fringe elements who try to cram their ideology down everyone’s throats thus trampling the rights of others. No young girl or any woman, for that matter, should be subjected to a biological man’s penis right next to them in a locker room reserved for their sex. If you think that is just fine, you are a big part of the problem in this country that has been sinking into moral depravity for far too long.
