President Biden has told reporters that there’s “no rational basis” for owning a 9mm handgun.
Biden’s remarks came after meeting with the families of the victims in the Robb Elementary School shooting.
Recalling a separate occasion at a trauma center in New York, the president explained that doctors told him a .22-caliber round would lodge in the lung. Biden then claimed the doctors told him that a 9mm bullet “blows the lung out of the body.”

“So, the idea of these high-caliber weapons is, uh, there’s simply no rational basis for it in terms of self-protection, hunting,” Biden added. “Remember, the Constitution was never absolute.”
“You couldn’t buy a cannon when the Second Amendment was passed,” Biden said. “You couldn’t go out and purchase a lot of weaponry.”
Biden did admit that he didn’t have the authority to carry out a gun ban.
“I can do the things I’ve done and any executive action I can take, I’ll continue to take. But I can’t outlaw a weapon. I can’t change a background check. I can’t do that,” he said.
Biden’s comments were in line with his tough stance on guns during the 2020 presidential campaign. Speaking during a fundraising event in Seattle in November 2019, Biden said he supported the Second Amendment but called absolutist arguments about gun-rights “bizarre.”
The 9mm handgun is the most popular pistol in the United States.

Looks like we may need to disarm majority of police since they use 9 mm and replace with 22 cal. Will certainly please terrorists and MS 13 members but ok since probable Democrats. VBG. President Joe Bidden and his advisers have little or no knowledge of hand held firearms. The 9mm pistol or revolver is a light weight firearm compared to .40 and .45 caliber pistols which the military and law enforcement are now choosing. You want to kill criminals not wound them! I carry .40 or .45 caliber pistols with hollow point shells and my targets are center mass!
