Left-wing political parties around the world are facing unprecedented unpopularity to numbers not seen since the Cold War, according to a detailed analysis of global elections. The findings, based on 73 democratic elections held last year, reveal that the average support for left-leaning parties has plummeted to a record low. In Western democracies like the United States and parts of Europe, the figures spell even more trouble for the left wing.
The decline of leftist parties worldwide appears to be part of a broader shift in the global political landscape, with right-wing parties experiencing a resurgence. The Right has enjoyed an average 57% of the vote compared to the Left’s 45%, marking the largest gap between left and right since 1990. Experts have speculated that this dramatic reversal is linked to the rise of populist and conservative leaders, such as President-elect Donald Trump, whose 2024 victory is seen as the latest marker in the global shift to the right.
The upset victory of Donald Trump, who was the first Republican to win the popular vote in the United States in 20 years, secured it with 77 million votes against Vice President Kamala Harris’s 75 million, is one of the strongest examples of the growing unpopularity of left-leaning parties. Critics believe that Trump’s populist rhetoric and conservative agenda have emboldened right-wing movements globally, contributing to the decline of the Left.
“Trump’s 2024 landslide victory is part of a broader populist wave,” said political analyst David Turner. “He is not just a figurehead of American conservatism — his influence extends far beyond the U.S., impacting political dynamics in Europe, Canada, and even Australia.”
Experts predict that leftist parties in other Western democracies will soon experience similar losses. In Canada, for example, polling data suggests that Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre is the frontrunner to replace Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who recently announced his abrupt resignation. Meanwhile, in Australia, the conservative opposition party has pulled ahead of the ruling progressive government ahead of the national elections later this year.
One of the major factors driving the Right’s rise is a shift in public opinion on immigration and national security policies. Hardline stances on immigration, which have been popularized by right-wing leaders like Trump and his European counterparts, have become a rallying cry for many voters. The tough stance on border control and national identity has resonated with large swathes of the electorate, particularly in response to perceived threats from mass immigration and the effects of globalization.
Jeremy Cliffe, a senior policy analyst at the European Council on Foreign Relations, identified three core trends driving the rise of the Right: “The decline of organized labor, rising identity politics effectively harnessed by the Right, and the fragmentation of Leftist forces which struggle to unite around a common agenda.”
Political scientist Matthijs Rooduijn from the University of Amsterdam noted that the Left’s inability to unite behind a coherent agenda is likely to continue contributing to its global unpopularity. “The trend is up. There is no real reason to expect that it will stop anytime soon,” Rooduijn told The Telegraph, indicating that the Left is facing a prolonged period of decline.
As countries like Canada, Australia, and Germany brace for upcoming elections, experts predict that right-wing candidates will continue to dominate. If current trends hold, the political right may solidify its hold on the global stage, ushering in a new era of conservative leadership.

Unfortunately, most of the “conservative” parties in Europe are hardlyMAGA. And they have parliamentary systems,so you have to form coalitions to govern. Many of these countries dont have free speech rights, and GB has actual censorship laws. Good luck!
This is truly GOOD NEWS for the entire world. God bless the leaders of the world to achieve greater freedom for all.
Now if more people would worship God and follow his son, we would see a real improvement in the World.
LEFTISM OR MERELY LEFT-LEANING LIBERALISM vs. RIGHT-LEANING LIBERALISM?
There’s only One with the authority to determine what constitutes right and left. And per His determination, the bulk of those claiming to be conservatives (Constitutionalists, Libertarians, Republicans, etc.) are merely right-leaning (barely) liberals.
