The 2025 Presidential Inauguration, set to take place on January 20, is expected to face significant security challenges. However, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is facing a unique hurdle: more than half a dozen local police departments from the Washington, D.C. area have announced they will not be assisting MPD with security for the event. The move could leave MPD with hundreds fewer officers than it typically relies on for such a large-scale operation, raising concerns about the department’s readiness for the high-profile event.
The decision not to collaborate on inauguration security comes amid ongoing controversies surrounding MPD’s handling of past incidents, as well as reported tensions between MPD and local police agencies. While MPD has stated that thousands of officers will be deployed for the inauguration, several D.C.-area departments have opted out, citing various reasons—many of which are linked to disputes over a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with MPD.
Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), one of the largest in Maryland, confirmed in an email to The Daily Caller that it would not be assisting with inauguration security. A spokesperson noted that this decision was based on the current MOU between MCPD and MPD. “I was just told that based on the current MOU, we will not be assisting Metro PD,” the spokesperson stated.
Other nearby departments, including Howard County and Queen Anne’s County police in Maryland, also confirmed they would not be providing security assistance for the inauguration. Howard County had previously helped with inauguration security in 2017, but the department’s leadership has indicated that logistical and operational concerns are behind this year’s decision to decline participation. Queen Anne’s County cited “technical difficulties” as its reason for opting out.
Only two of the nine departments who responded to The Daily Caller confirmed they would be assisting MPD with inauguration security: Frederick City Police in Maryland, which plans to send about 20 officers, and Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia, which will provide around 30 deputies.
Despite these setbacks, sources familiar with security planning have assured that MPD is making provisions to mitigate the impact of reduced manpower. The department is reportedly bringing in additional resources to allow its officers to be deployed in critical areas, freeing up local jurisdictions to focus on “more serious incidents” such as potential civil unrest, the sources explained.
With the event’s location moved to the Capitol Rotunda, reportedly due to weather concerns, Capitol Police is expected to play a leading role in ensuring the safety of dignitaries, lawmakers, and the public. U.S. Secret Service Special Agent Matt McCool confirmed that the inauguration will face a “higher-threat environment,” necessitating a more robust security plan.
Around 25,000 military personnel and law enforcement officers will be assisting with security at the inauguration, WTOP News reported. But the decision by local departments not to support MPD casts a shadow over whether MPD has the necessary resources to manage the event, especially with multiple protests and demonstrations planned in Washington, D.C.

It’s not about an MOU and its misunderstanding insofar as the surrounding police departments’ participation in providing security services for Trump’s inauguration. It’s about an unwillingness to provide security and protection for TRUMP, whom the Washington Establishment, the Swamp, hates. They would prefer Trump be assassinated by say an aerial attack from a drone as has been the case overseas carried out by U.S. military forces as ordered by the POTUS, specifically Trump. Thus, that more than the weather is likely the reason for moving the inauguration indoors.
Washington D.C. has become the hell hole swamp to which it has been gravitating for years under Demoncrat control with the help of RINOs (thankyou Senator Mitch McConnell) and the Fake News Media. Were the inauguration for Biden or Harris, the respective PDs that are now making excuses for not participating in providing security for Trump’s inauguration, would almost certainly be tripping over themselves to provide security services for the inauguration. The swamp hates Trump and thus we average Americans who voted overwhelmingly for him to be the next POTUS replacing the unprecedented disaster, Biden. The D.C. MPD’s lack of a favorable regard for Trump and us, his voters and supporters, is mutual to be sure. Accordingly, the Nation’s Capital should be moved from Washington D.C. to the center of the nation abandoning it to its status as a relic of American History and a Once Great Nation. The final word in MAGA “Again” connotes the restoration of America to its former “Greatness.” Moving the Capital out of its current decaying swamp, Washington D.C., would be a critical first step in that restoration process. Such a proposed move would doubtless be made the subject of immense ridicule dare it be made official. There’s little if any chance such a move would EVER officially be the subject of so much as a passing consideration. Too bad, so sad but true to the end.
Trump will improve if not reverse our declining situation over the next four years despite efforts to oppose him at every turn by the Washington Establishment and the swamp same as was the case for his first term from 2017 through 2020 which included the Russia collusion hoax and two impeachments. Lifting America out of its rotting culture socially, politically, economically, morally and spiritually may be beyond the reach of any government. Nevertheless, pray we must for its revival and salvation from the depths to which it has descended in accordance with the aforesaid metrics over the past four years under Joe ‘Biden’s illegal, tyrannical and demonic Presidency. “Never Again” should be our rallying cry!
Id say FIRE ALL of the personnel in those agencies who are REFUSING to participate , starting with the leaders, and hire agents who are FAITHFHFUL to America and NOT to a party, as this appars to be the case.
