The House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a war powers resolution aimed at ending unauthorized U.S. military involvement in Iran, marking the most significant congressional challenge yet to President Donald Trump’s handling of the conflict.

The measure, sponsored by Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.) invokes the 1973 War Powers Resolution and would require the administration to obtain explicit authorization from Congress before continuing hostilities against Iran, except in cases involving an imminent threat to the United States. The vote followed months of growing bipartisan concern over a conflict that began in.

In the hopes of accelerating the recovery process following the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles County, President Donald Trump announced plans to waive virtually all federal permitting requirements for rebuilding efforts. The announcement came during a roundtable discussion with local officials in the region after Trump had toured areas that were severely impacted by the fires, which have claimed at least 28 lives and destroyed over 16,000 structures, according to Cal Fire.

Trump’s plan to cut red tape and speed up recovery was driven by the overwhelming scale of the destruction in the county. With many survivors still waiting for relief, Trump emphasized the need for urgent action, highlighting the inefficiency of the lengthy federal permitting process that often delays critical rebuilding efforts.

“We’re going to waive… essentially waive, all federal permits,” Trump said during the roundtable, stressing that the typical federal permit approval process can take as long as 10 years. “We don’t want to take 10 days,” Trump added, drawing applause from those present.

Trump’s message to local officials, particularly Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, was clear: “I’d ask that the local permitting process be the same.”

“We’re ready,” Bass said, seemingly in agreement with Trump’s call for urgent action and rapid recovery.

Trump also underscored the importance of bringing in some of the nation’s best developers to spearhead the recovery efforts. “I’ve had so many calls from developers, and they want to come in—they don’t want anything—they just want to come in and help,” Trump said. According to the president, these developers have the expertise and resources to get the job done quickly and efficiently, without the delays typically associated with bureaucratic processes.

“They are literally in a position right now; they’d like to start tonight,” he said. “They’ll clean their site, they’ll do everything. They just want to start.”

To further streamline the recovery efforts, Trump plans to declare the wildfire disaster a national emergency. By doing so, he would unlock additional federal resources and provide immediate permits to aid the rebuilding process. A national emergency declaration allows the president to bypass certain procedures, making federal funds and aid available more quickly.

He also noted that the flexibility afforded by the national emergency declaration would help eliminate bureaucratic roadblocks, allowing the focus to remain on rapid recovery.

His proposal to waive federal and local permitting requirements will be closely watched, as it represents a significant shift in how disaster recovery efforts could be handled in the future. The focus on cutting red tape is likely to resonate with many who feel that bureaucratic inefficiencies too often hinder timely recovery in the aftermath of major disasters.

In his remarks, Trump stressed that the success of the recovery efforts would depend on cooperation between federal, state, and local governments. While the president’s federal approach to rebuilding is aggressive, it is clear that he sees this as a team effort. Trump’s leadership, combined with local expertise, will be crucial to rebuilding homes, businesses, and infrastructure in the fire-ravaged regions of Los Angeles County.

As the state begins the long road to recovery, Trump’s promise to fast-track rebuilding efforts—and the potential to overhaul outdated permitting processes—could provide much-needed relief to the victims of the Los Angeles County wildfires, who are eager to return to their homes and rebuild their communities as quickly as possible.

Slash and burn, red tape that is. No one has any business branding President Trump as any kind of “Hitler!” There is no doubt that God protected him, why? Because God knows Donald Trump’s heart. President Trump does not distinguish between Democrats and Republicans; he sees only human beings in trouble. God sends the rains on the righteous and the unrighteous alike. Captain Kirk says it well, “Above all things a god must have compassion.” In the episode, “Where No Man Has Gone Before.”

I agree that Trump’s efforts need to be made a PRIORITY. BUT… Bass and the OTHER IDIOTS in L.A (WHO CAUSED THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE) need to be GONE, or AT LEAST HAMSTRINGED so that ALL DECISIONS are made or approved by people WITH EXPERIENCE and PROVEN MENTAL ACUITY\.
I have also felt for many years, that in situations of disaster, ALL MIDDLEMEN need to be bypassed in securing building materials and labor, saving at least 50% of all re-construction costs. As an example, lumber is one of the greatest used materials, and going directly to the lumber growers/producers, and purchasing the vast, projected materials from these growers would save billions (since Trump is spreading these costs over the taxpayers of the Country). WE ALL should lobby for this idea to be implemented.

Once again you can tell that Trump isn’t a professional politician. He’s too concerned with actually getting things done rather than trying to claim credit for it.

He’s a builder, by trade. He has done this all of his adult life, and he is one of the best.

State bureaucracy is plentiful. They don’t need any more red tape from Washington. Hurrah! And I wish Scottie could beam Gov. Vitalis down to Hell.
