He’s out…
After 18 years with CNN, Jim Acosta has officially signed off.
On Tuesday’s edition of CNN Newsroom With Jim Acosta, the anchor made his resignation official, announcing to viewers at the end of the show that he is leaving CNN — and in addition to calling out Trump, urged viewers to post a message to their social media — “I will not give in to the fear!”:
Watch:
Today’s show was my last at CNN. My closing message: It’s never a good time to bow down to a tyrant… don’t give in to the lies. Don’t give in to fear. Hold on to the truth… and hope. pic.twitter.com/sGhSWSyPMz

I just wanted to end today’s show by thanking all of the wonderful people who work behind the scenes at this network.
You may have seen some reports about me and the show, and after giving all of this some careful consideration and weighing in alternative timeslots CNN offered me, I’ve decided to move on. I am grateful to CNN for the nearly 18 years I’ve spent here doing the news.
People often ask me if the highlight of my career at CNN was at the White House covering Donald Trump.
Actually, no. That moment came here when I covered former President Barack Obama’s trip to Cuba in 2016 and had the chance to question the dictator there, Raul Castro, about the island’s political prisoners.
As the son of a Cuban refugee, I took home this lesson: It is never a good time to bow down to a tyrant.
I have always believed it’s the job of the press to hold power to account. I’ve always tried to do that here at CNN, and I plan on doing all of that in the future.
One final message. Don’t give in to the lies. Don’t give in to the fear. Hold on to the truth and to hope.
Even if you have to get out your phone, record that message. I will not give in to the lies. “I will not give in to the fear!”
Post it on your social media so people can hear from you, too.
I’ll have more to say about my plans in the coming days. But until then, I want to thank all of you for tuning in. It has been an honor to be welcomed into your home for all these years.
That’s the news. Reporting from Washington. I’m Jim Acosta.
CNN thanked Acosta in a statement from a spokesperson:
“Jim has had a long, distinguished nearly 20-year career at CNN, with a track record of standing up to authority, for the first amendment and for our journalistic freedoms. We want to thank him for the dedication and commitment he’s brought to his reporting and wish him the very best in the future.”
According to a report from Status News’ founder Oliver Darcy, the 18-year veteran of the network indicated to associates that he planned to leave the network after being removed from his 10 a.m. weekday time slot by CNN CEO Mark Thompson.
Regarding Thompson’s suggesting that Acosta move to midnight, one source familiar with the situation said CNN was offering a sacrifice of sorts to Acosta’s longtime nemesis, President Donald Trump as the network hope to shift towards a more neutral news angle.
“They want to get rid of Acosta to throw a bone to Trump,” a source told Darcy. “Midnight is not a serious offer when his ratings are among the best on the network.”
Acosta became more widely known as CNN’s chief White House correspondent for his antagonistic relationship with President Donald Trump and his aides during the first Trump administration.
One CNN insider told Fox News Digital they heard Acosta “struggled with the choice.”
Another CNN insider was dismayed by Acosta’s exit, saying “Many viewers like Jim… if there is anyone who could make the overnight go it’s him,” adding “It’s sad to see him go.”

Those who can’t recognize a good president need to be removed.
They just can’t understand proper principles. And don’t deserve to be reporting the news.
To Acosta: Glad to see your liberal, leftist backside leaving the news, Don’t let the door hit your backside too hard as you leave. Don’t go away made, just go away.
Hope he never finds another job. I think he needs his head examined.
HA HA HA
Yeah, he really stood up to the tyranny of the Biden, Obama, and Clinton Administrations. Really stood up to the tyranny of the DOJ, FBI, and Intelligence Community.
Hollow words from a hollow man.
It’s time for him to leave.
His tenure has given him a false sense of entitlement which oozed forth from the way he structured every question posed to those in power that he did not support.
Maybe Biden or Obama has some water he can carry to round out his career.
Other than that he dutifully reported the leftist agenda as instructed.
I will not give into the lies and I will not give into the fear, that’s the reason I stopped listening to Jim Acosta in the first place. His contempt for Donald Trump, and conservatives in general, has made it almost impossible to listen to him because of his hatred for Trump. His contempt for the Conservative viewers has alienated a lot of people and that’s the reason they moved his tine slot to obscurity. People are sick and tired of the continuous editorializing instead of reporting the news. He doesn’t have to agree with everything we conservatives stand for but he should at least be a professional and keep his opinions out of himself. What happened to the people like Jim and the other liberal news people reporting the real news. They continue to look at one side instead of being objective and looking addressing the views of both sides. Goodby and good luck to him. CNN used to be a place you could go and get the unbiased news of the nation and the world but that left a long time ago.
Acosta lost Trump won!!
Thank you Mr. Acosta for that report about YOURSELF! Never give in to a lying tyrant like you.
HOW CAN SOMEONE, THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE INTELLIGENT, BECOME SO MISGUIDED, AND JUST PLAIN WRONG?
