Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent acknowledged Wednesday that he threatened to “kick ass” during a heated confrontation last year, while firmly denying reports that he threatened to punch the now-acting Director of National Intelligence “in the face.”

The unusual exchange emerged during a Senate Finance Committee hearing, where Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) pressed Bessent about reports surrounding a confrontation between the two Trump administration officials during the summer of 2025.

According to Bessent, one key detail in the widely circulated account was inaccurate.

While he denied threatening.

READ TODAY’S PDB BELOW:

NATIONAL SECURITY

ENCRYPT ALL COMMS! – Ukraine war shows danger of unencrypted communications, says US Army secretary. There is a lot to be learned from the war raging in Ukraine, including the value of secure communications and the hazards posed by indiscriminate cell phone use on the battlefield, the U.S. Army’s top civilian said.

HOMELAND SECURITY

It was just madness inside.’ Gunman kills 4 people at Tulsa hospital complex. Four people were killed in Tulsa on Wednesday after a gunman — who was later found dead — opened fire on the second floor of a medical building, authorities in Oklahoma said.

IF VETTED AND WELL TRAINED, WHY NOT ONE OPTION? Why armed military veterans aren’t a solution to school shootings. On several military and military fan pages, you’ll see people claiming that the solution to school shootings is to have armed veterans patrol our schools.

CHINA THREAT

MESSAGE TO CHINA – Navy ready for Rim of the Pacific exercises, world’s largest maritime drills. The naval maneuvers will take place in and around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California, Navy officials said Wednesday.

Canada says Chinese warplanes harassed its patrol aircraft on N Korea sanctions mission. On several occasions from April 26 to May 26, aircraft of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) approached a Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) CP-140 Aurora long-range patrol aircraft, the Canadian Armed Forces said in a statement on Wednesday.

RUSSIA THREAT

Russia-Ukraine war: List of key events, day 99. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said 200,000 children are among the Ukrainians who have been forcefully taken to Russia and dispersed across the vast country, including children from orphanages, children taken with their parents, and those separated from their families. Luhansk regional Governor Serhiy Haidai said 70 percent of Severodonetsk was held by Russian forces, 10-15 percent was a “grey zone”, and the rest was held by Ukraine.

REACH OUT AND TOUCH SOMEONE – US will send HIMARS precision rockets to Ukraine. The Biden administration will send Ukraine $700 million in new military aid including high-tech, medium-range rocket systems that Ukrainian leaders have been pleading for as they struggle to stall Russian advances in the Donbas region.

Private groups work to bring specialized combat gear to Ukraine. A network of former military veterans is providing commercially available equipment they say is lacking in front-line units engaging Russian forces, often at close range.

Baltic Sea exercise may serve as prime showcase for prospective NATO members Finland, Sweden. An annual U.S.-led naval exercise in the Baltic region that starts this weekend could allow Finland and Sweden to demonstrate their maritime prowess, potentially underscoring the contributions they might make as NATO members.

YES! Arm Ukraine to Win the War at Sea. NATO allies need to arm Ukraine so it can push back the Russian Navy and end Vladimir Putin’s stranglehold on Ukraine’s economy and the world’s food supply.

IRAN THREAT

AS BIDEN PLAYS NICE – FBI director blames Iran for ‘despicable’ attempted cyberattack on Boston Children’s Hospital. The FBI was able to help thwart the hackers before they did damage to the hospital’s computer network, according to FBI Director Christopher Wray, but he cited it as an example of the potential high-impact hacking threats that the US faces from the governments of Iran, Russia, China and North Korea.

INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

New Aussie defense chief’s first priority: Closing 20-year sub ‘gap.’ “I think that the most important point to say to you, in 30 seconds is; this is just about the number one priority for me coming into this portfolio,” Defense Minister Richard Marles said.

BIDEN AFGHAN DISASTER

THANK YOU, BIDEN – The West has a hand in Afghanistan’s bleak state. While the West is focused on the war in Ukraine, conditions in Afghanistan have gone from bad to worse over the past eight months.

US MILITARY AND SPACE

CAUSE EVENT WAS OUTRAGEOUS- Ramstein Air Base gives new reason for canceling kids’ reading event with drag queen. News that Ramstein was quashing the Pride Month event came late last week amid a high-profile backlash that included a complaint from U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R.-Fla., who called on the Air Force to investigate.

SERIOUSLY MARINES? STICK TO CRAYONS – Marine Corps sparks outrage with rainbow bullets to mark Pride month. The Marine Corps marked the start of Pride month with an image of a combat helmet adorned with rainbow-colored bullets on Wednesday — sparking outrage over the mixing of warfare and wokeness.

I am a Vietnam veteran and I would volunteer to guard any school with a gun. I may be old, I may be slow, but I am still anexcellent shot and as mean as a rattlesnake!

I don’t see where the article is. I think this website needs to be redesigned. Articles for a main headline should be easy to find.

As a retired military officer, with over 30 years in Air Force blue, I’m still keeping that oath that I swore in 1968… to support and defend the Constitutuon, against ALL enemies, foreign & DOMESTIC!!! THAT DOMESTIC TERM IS WHY OUR FOUNDERS PUT IT IN THE CONSTITUTION….. SO THAT CITIZENS HAVE THE FORCE NEEDED TO WREST THE CAPITOL FROM TYRRANICAL GOVERNMENT, IF NEED BE!!! IT ALSO MEANS THAT I AM AVAILABLE 24/7/365, TO GO HALF A MILE DOWN MY GRAVEL ROAD TO THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MY CHILD ATTENDED DECADES AGO…..AGAIN, IF NEED BE!!!

More than a decade ago, I posited to the Heritage Foundation, that military retirees and military veterans are a readymade resource to secure our schools TODAY!!! One of the first things you’re trained to do in all of the Services is FIRE YOUR ISSUED WEAPON SAFELY, CARE FOR IT PROPERLY & KEEP IT SAFE & READY FOR USE…… AND THAT INCLUDES USE OF DEADLY FORCE, IF NEED BE!!! THAT TRAINING, IN ALL THE SERVICES, REQUIRES ANNUAL TRAINING AND FIRING PROFICIENCY!!!

THAT MEANS WE ARE READY TO GUARD OIR SCHOOLS TODAY!!!

IF WE JUST HAD A PRESIDENT WHO HAD SERVED IN THE MILITARY, HE WOULD KNOW THAT!!!!!

AND UVELDE WOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED!!!!!

PAY ME $1.00/YEAR AND I’LL BE DOWN THERE IN 20 MINUTES!!!!

As a wife of a Navy vet I agree completely. Veterans have protected our Country from day one & they surely can protect her most precious asset; our innocent children! Problem is this corrupt, disgusting pure poor excuse for a president and his administration don’t want or care about protecting ou children. After all, if they are protected, then they’ll have no excuse to try to disarm law-abiding citizens!!
