Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.

According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.

The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.

British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has signaled the U.K.’s willingness to deploy troops to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping mission—but only if a formal peace agreement is reached between Ukraine and Russia. Writing in The Telegraph, Starmer acknowledged the gravity of sending British servicemen and women “into harm’s way” but argued that a lasting peace in the region requires a firm commitment from Europe:

To achieve it, Europe and the United States must continue to work closely together – and I believe the UK can play a unique role in helping to make this happen, just as we did this past week in stepping in to convene and chair the Ukraine Defence Contact Group.

First, Europe must step up further to meet the demands of its own security. So I am heading to Paris with a very clear message for our European friends. We have got to show we are truly serious about our own defence and bearing our own burden. We have talked about it for too long – and president Trump is right to demand that we get on with it.

As European nations, we must increase our defence spending and take on a greater role in Nato. Non-US Nato nations have already increased defence spending by 20 per cent in the past year, but we must go further.

Russia is still waging war and Ukraine is still fighting for its freedom, which is why we must not relent in our efforts to get the kit Ukrainians need for their fighters on the front line. While the fighting continues, we must put Ukraine in the strongest possible position ahead of any talks.

The announcement comes at a tense moment, as European leaders scramble to prepare for emergency talks in Paris. The urgency follows U.S. President Donald Trump’s unilateral move to open peace negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin—without first consulting European allies. This move has rattled EU leaders, who fear being sidelined in discussions that could reshape the continent’s security landscape.

Starmer has made clear that the U.K. is committed to backing Ukraine for the long haul, pledging £3 billion annually in military support through 2030. He stressed that Europe’s security depends on stepping up collective defense efforts.

However, the idea of U.K. troops on the ground has raised concerns among senior military officials. Some warn that the British Army is already stretched thin, questioning whether it has the resources and manpower to take on such a demanding peacekeeping role.

According to Sky News, former top military officers have serious concerns about Britain’s military readiness with defense cuts and recruitment shortages already straining the armed forces:

Richard Dannatt, former head of the army, said 5,000 to 10,000 soldiers would be needed to safeguard Ukraine’s border with Russia, while the Royal Navy would need to continue patrolling the Black Sea and the RAF would continue to provide air cover and reconnaissance.

Government minister Lisa Nandy hinted there were worries the army is not large enough to provide peacekeeping forces as she blamed its size on the previous Conservative government.

Asked if there is concern the army is too small for a peacekeeping mission, she told Sky News: “We inherited an army that was at its smallest size for hundreds of years.”

“Consistently, in opposition, we raised concerns about that and the misguided approach of the last government.”

“We are working hard to make good on that promise to increase the amount of defense spending and to support our armed forces,” she added.

As the situation develops, the U.K.’s potential involvement will be a key topic in high-level talks among European leaders, NATO allies and the broader international community. With geopolitical stakes this high, every decision made in the coming weeks will have lasting consequences.

EUROPE WILL NEVER BE SAFE WITH RUSSIA’S AGGRESSIVE NATURE!! UKRAINE IS JUST ONE OF MANY COUNTRIES THAT RUSSIA HAS THEIR EYE ON FOR CONQUEST!!! WHO’S NEXT AFTER UKRAINE?!

The British military should be more concerned about freeing Britain than worrying about Ukraine. If Europeans insist on killing each other they should do it without help from the USA.

PM Starmer is a disastrous leader who wants a foreign war that will distract from his Anti British pro Islamist Leadershup at home.
Sending Britain’s meager military to the Ukraine keeps significant numbers of troops in Britain that could br ued be used against him as problems worsen
