Not the President’s Daily Brief, but almost as good – PAUL’S DEFENSE BRIEFING – the PDB:
NATIONAL SECURITY
TREAD CAREFULLY – Few would deny that the Defense Department, with its $886 billion budget and byzantine ways, could be run more efficiently. Many have called for sweeping reforms of one sort of another. But if Elon Musk and his DOGE team disrupt Pentagon data systems, contracts, and employees as they’ve done at other federal agencies, some say the results could expose critical national-security data, endanger personnel, and create huge conflicts of interest.
What America’s Iron Dome effort should learn from Israel’s air defense system. On Jan. 27 Trump signed an executive order aimed at creating “a next-generation missile defense shield for the United States against ballistic, hypersonic, advanced cruise missiles, and other next-generation aerial attacks,” dubbed an “Iron Dome for America.”
Let’s stop poking allies in the eye. Provoking conflicts with friends and disrespecting leaders of close allies like Canada is no way to conduct foreign policy.
HOMELAND SECURITY
Delta jet crashes and flips upside down on a snowy Toronto runway and all 80 aboard survive.
Trump begins firings of FAA staff just weeks after fatal DC plane crash at Reagan National Airport.
POLITICS
Congressman: No ROTC at colleges? Then no federal dollars.
PENTAGON WOKE WATCH
DEI, DOA: How the defense industry is racing to bury its diversity efforts.
US POWER OVERSEAS
Modernized network capabilities tested during a recent exercise in Europe allowed US military forces to operate more dispersed with lower electronic footprints – making them hard for the enemy to discover.
PHOTOS – Elements of the US Navy’s 7th Fleet are sailing through the Philippine Sea with French and Japanese vessels in a joint exercise meant to train crews and show just how much force they can project at sea. And it’s a lot of force.
IRAN THREAT/ISRAEL WARS
As Israel fields Iron Beam, Gulf states are pining for the technology. Interest in direct-energy weapons is rising in the Gulf region, a technology that Israel is a leader in.
CHINA THREAT
China’s escalating military demonstrations of force toward Taiwan are “not exercises; they are rehearsals” for forced reunification with the mainland, the top U.S. military commander in the Indo-Pacific is warning.
RUSSIA THREAT – UKRAINE WAR
Polish officials offer US more defense buys, joint ammo production. As Poland’s defense budget is set to reach an unprecedented level of 4.7 percent of GDP, Pete Hegseth has called on countries in the region to similarly ramp up their military expenditures.
Sudan says plan for first Russian naval base in Africa will go ahead.

SPACE THREAT
INTERNATIONAL SECURITY
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz received rapturous applause from European officials in a fiery speech at the Munich Security Conference that took issue with claims from JD Vance about democratic infringements across Europe, hate speech and supposed mistreatment of the far-right, Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.

US MILITARY
The Army wants to evolve, and to try new methods of fighting it’s testing something called “transformation in contact.” Get an inside look.

EU Defense Force
Lots of news and almost need a ladle to capture and swallow all that you’re sending our way. Keep on sending, keep us informed. Thank you.
Some Europeans -esp. Germany and France- had long planned a, Independent European Defense Force, and an Independent European Economic Cooperative (backed by Russian resources) would have put the USA in second place – maybe third, after China. Which was, mot likely, Obama’s main reason for starting a serious war in Europe – and luring the Europeans into it AGAINST THEIR OWN INTEREST and BACK UNDER US HEEL!
