Tom Homan, border czar under the Trump administration, made a fiery declaration during his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) on Saturday, warning Massachusetts’ leadership of the consequences of their sanctuary city policies. Homan, who has long been outspoken about illegal immigration and the need for stricter enforcement, specifically criticized Boston’s approach to immigration enforcement. His remarks came after Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox stated that his department would not assist U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) with deportation efforts or comply with federal immigration detainers.
He began his speech, “Look, Let me start off by saying this if I offend anybody today.. I don’t give a s***. Don’t care. Media in the back [of the] room, I’m sure I’ll be reading a lot of hit pieces on me tomorrow. I don’t give a s*** what you think about me. I get asked all the time, ‘does it bother you that there’s a big part of this country that hates your guts?’ I don’t care. I don’t care because we’ve got a job to do.”
During his speech, Homan proclaimed, “I’m coming to Boston and I’m bringing hell with me,” a comment that sent waves through the CPAC audience, garnering enthusiastic applause and chants of his name. He went on to call out Cox directly, suggesting the Boston Police Commissioner had abandoned his duties as a law enforcement officer in favor of a political agenda. Homan sharply criticized the release of illegal immigrants with criminal histories, revealing that at least nine child rapists had been freed back onto the streets of Massachusetts due to local law enforcement’s refusal to cooperate with ICE.
The border czar also vowed to bring “old school” ICE personnel back to reinforce strict immigration enforcement, criticizing younger staff for not adhering to the tough, no-nonsense policies he championed. He ended his speech with a show of strong support for President Donald Trump, proclaiming that Trump would restore safety, health, and greatness to America.
His comments reflect the broader tension between law enforcement agencies that support federal immigration laws and local governments that opt for sanctuary policies, which limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities.
Homan’s commitment to enforcing immigration laws remains unwavering, despite the challenges he has faced throughout his career. Undeterred by personal risks, including threats against his life, Homan has continually stood his ground in calling out both local and state leaders who defy federal immigration laws.
His resolve is further evident in his response to public figures like Selena Gomez, who has been vocal in her opposition to stricter immigration enforcement, who shared an emotional video decrying deportations. Homan has consistently taken such criticism in stride, emphasizing that his primary focus is the safety and security of American citizens, rather than yielding to the emotional pleas of celebrities or those who wish to undermine the law.
He has made it clear that he will continue holding officials accountable, regardless of public pressure or backlash, and will relentlessly pursue those who refuse to uphold their responsibilities in enforcing federal immigration policies. Homan’s dedication to the cause, even in the face of personal and professional adversity, highlights his unshakeable resolve in protecting the integrity of U.S. immigration laws.
