A Horrific Crime…
A Florida man has been arrested after allegedly setting off an explosive device inside his vehicle, tragically killing his wife in what authorities are calling an “arson attack.”
The suspect, identified as 50-year-old Noel Ruiz Mestre, is now facing charges of second-degree murder and arson following the deadly incident that occurred in the early hours of Feb. 1 in Hialeah Gardens, a suburb of Miami.
Neighborhood Rocked by Early Morning Blast
Home security footage captured the moment a powerful explosion shattered the neighborhood’s early morning peace. Residents were jolted awake by the deafening blast, with one witness describing the sheer force of the explosion.
“I get up, and I was like, what’s happening? Because the explosion was too, too, too loud,” said local resident Miguel Hernandez. Like many in the community, he was unaware at first that someone had been caught in the blaze.
Another witness, Jose Rodriguez, recalled the chaos that followed. “Well, I heard a loud boom. The neighbors, about 20 or 30 seconds later, come out, and then I heard the police sirens approaching. One of the neighbors came by and said that there was a woman that had gotten burned.”
Footage later showed firefighters battling the raging car fire. Emergency responders set up privacy tarps after discovering a grim scene—the charred remains of a person in the passenger seat.
Police Confirm the Explosion Was No Accident
Investigators quickly determined that the explosion was no tragic accident, but an intentional act. Authorities linked Mestre to the blast after finding evidence of a homemade explosive device.
Further investigation uncovered disturbing details. Reports suggest that Mestre and his wife had been in a heated argument inside the vehicle. When she attempted to leave, she was unable to exit and the confrontation escalated. Police believe Mestre then stepped out of the car, ignited the explosive device and walked away, leaving his wife trapped inside.
After the explosion, Mestre reportedly returned home, discarded his burned clothing and then stabbed himself in the stomach. He later called 911, requesting medical assistance for his self-inflicted injuries.
Mestre will be taken to jail upon his release from the hospital and is expected to stand trial. Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive, but domestic violence remains a concern nationwide.
As Mestre awaits his day in court, one thing remains clear—justice must be served for the innocent life lost in this shocking act of violence.
