Fox News personality Kat Timpf shared an emotional update on Tuesday, revealing that she was diagnosed with breast cancer just hours before giving birth to her first child. The “Gutfeld!” panelist and host of Sincerely, Kat on Fox Nation posted a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter), announcing the birth of her son while providing reassurance about her health.
“I welcomed my first child into the world last week. About fifteen hours before I went into labor, I was diagnosed with breast cancer,” Timpf, 36, wrote, adding that her doctor confirmed the cancer was in its early stages. “Now, before you worry, my doctor says it’s Stage 0 and is confident that it almost certainly hasn’t spread. Or, as I’ve explained to the few people I’ve managed to tell about it so far: Don’t freak out. It’s just, like, a LITTLE bit of cancer.”
Stage 0 breast cancer, or carcinoma in situ, is a non-invasive type of cancer where abnormal cells are found in a specific area of the breast, often in the milk ducts. According to the National Cancer Institute, these abnormal cells have not spread to other parts of the body, making it highly treatable.
Timpf, who has been married to Cameron Friscia since 2021, announced their pregnancy in July. Her life took a dramatic turn during a visit to the doctor, when she received her diagnosis just hours before going into labor. Despite the overwhelming news, Timpf maintained her sense of humor, sharing that the hospital staff was “an excellent audience” for her dark jokes during this challenging time. In a light-hearted tone, she joked about how she would announce the birth of her son, considering the unexpected turn of events.
“Should I go with ‘Mom and baby are doing well, except maybe for mom’s cancer, and then maybe the baby after breastfeeding is stunted by her double mastectomy’?” she quipped. “And then shut off my phone for a week?”
Timpf also shared that doctors had suggested a double mastectomy, a procedure where both breasts are removed, “as soon as possible.” However, despite the challenging road ahead, Timpf remained optimistic and vowed to find the silver linings in her circumstances. She explained that her maternity leave, originally expected to be a time of joy and rest, would now look different as she embarks on this new health journey.
“I’m lucky that we found the cancer so early; I’m lucky to be my son’s mom,” she wrote. “I mean, I know I’m biased, but the little dude absolutely rules — and not just because he might have saved my life.”
Her candid and uplifting message resonated with many, offering strength to others who may be facing similar challenges. With her characteristic wit and levity, Timpf has shown that even in the face of adversity, it’s possible to find light and laughter, and to keep moving forward with hope.
