Norwegian marine fuel supplier Haltbakk Bunkers has announced it will not provide fuel to U.S. Navy vessels, citing dissatisfaction with President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance’s conduct on Friday during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The company’s owner, Gunnar Gran, described the event as “the biggest sh*tshow ever presented live on TV by the current American president and his vice president,” expressing support for Zelensky’s restraint. Gran stated that the fuel supply halt would continue until Trump is out of office.
While the company has provided fuel to U.S. Navy ships docking in Norway, the country’s defense minister, Tore Sandvik, clarified that Gran’s stance does not align with the Norwegian government’s policy, and American forces will continue to receive support from the Scandinavian nation.
“We have seen reports raising concerns about support for U.S. Navy vessels in Norway. This is not in line with the Norwegian government’s policy,” Sandvik said in a statement.
Nevertheless, Gran continues to call on other European fuel suppliers to cease providing fuel to U.S. Navy ships in response to the perceived mistreatment of Zelensky.
Immediately following Friday’s meeting spearheaded by Trump, several European leaders voiced strong support for Ukraine while raising concerns over the U.S. stance.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas took it a step further, declaring, “Today, it became clear that the free world needs a new leader. It’s up to us, Europeans, to take this challenge.”
Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron and U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer have announced a European-led peace initiative for Ukraine, stressing that Europe must take greater responsibility for its own defense—especially with shifting U.S. policies.

In that White House moment, Trump ceded American world leadership. The world looked to us for leadership, but this was a clear show of lack of same. As Trump once again bows to his buddy, Putin, we can see who really controls the conversation. Europe recognizes it, but America has so been pumped with the idea that all spending is bad, so that all people can see is the money that it costs to preserve democracy; Trump has foreseen that concept, and has tried to label Zelensky as a dictator, dismissing the idea of a democratic government, while bowing to the true dictatorship of Putin. The orchestrations going on here are intense and dramatic. Look around the world to see just who now looks up to us for leadership. Even the Canadians hate us. We had a commonality with Europe, but now that has been badly tarnished. Apparently, though, we still keep sending the billions to Israel. Apparently, Vance has become a Trump clone, which, at this point, would make me discount him for a presidential run on his own merit. I am all in favor of Trump’s reforms, but his need for dominance over everything makes it impossible to share the spotlight with anyone else and this was obvious at the White House fiasco.
